Lead DevOps Engineer – Onsite
Cognizant Digital Engineering is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer, responsible for leading a high performing front-end engineering team(s) to build innovative customer experiences for one of our clients. As a leader on the team, this role will work to help the team prioritize, build, and ship the most impactful features to our customers. The ideal candidate is a technical professional who has experience developing incredible customer experiences, while serving as a mentor to help guide and train other engineers on the team.
To be successful as a tech lead, you should be able to evaluate the needs, time limitations, and system limitations when developing software. A stand-out tech lead is one who is up to date on new technologies and software development practices and can translate these skills to their team’s deliverables.
This role will join the DevOps and Tooling team that builds moderate to complex applications, tools, and processes that improve the efficiency of the web and mobile application development teams, including but not limited to working on a variety of technologies, languages, and concepts related to speeding up the development and deliver of our web and mobile applications through automation, CI/CD, containerization, contract-driven development, build optimization, system integration (such as issue tracking, source code repositories, delivery environments, etc.), monitoring and alerting, etc. This role will work closely with other TET (Technical Enablement Teams) such as Architecture (Arch) and Quality Engineering (QE), to streamline code delivery processes, implementing and enhancing CI/CD capabilities through end-to-end UI test execution, making improvements to the test automation framework in coordination with QE. This position will work closely with the development teams as their main customer, while collaborating with other cross-functional teams (Cluster Management, Product Enablement Team, etc.) to build and deliver solutions that are maintainable and scalable.

Day-To-Day Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and deliver complex solutions for developers
- Apply existing knowledge, while proactively and independently acquiring new knowledge, of emerging development technologies and techniques in areas such as GitLab Pipelines, Docker, NodeJS, build automation, Kubernetes, and CI/CD open-source tooling, mobile devops
- Understanding of Software Quality practices, test execution through CI/CD, basic UI automation processes and best practices
- Ability to code in Typescript including unit test creation
- Work closely with the development teams to understand their needs, define new concepts, and execute towards deploying those concepts
- Diagnose complex issues, evaluate, recommend, and execute the best resolution
- Develop, modify, enhance, and implement software systems designed to support new or existing business initiatives
- Influence system design by identifying and recommending design and requirements needs for software enhancements
- Test software to ensure proper and efficient execution and adherence to business and technical requirements
- Write code that meets the production requirements and design specifications
- Ensure code is regression free, documented and unit tested
Key Qualifications:
- Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, OO Design, and networking fundamentals
- In-depth understanding of full-stack development (e.g. MEAN stack) and mobile application development
- In-depth understanding of CI/CD processes, including pipelines, build runners, caching strategies, and pre-processors (e.g. Babel, SASS/LESS, etc.)
- Experience with mobile DevOps
- Strong experience with mobile DevOps cloud platforms like Bitrise
- Experience with shell-based systems and scripting (e.g., Bash and Node) Docker and Helm Chart experience, with bonus points for Kubernetes cluster management experience using Rancher as the container orchestration system General Cloud Environments experience (AWS preferred)
- Experience with configuration management tools, preferably Terraform
- Knowledge of iOS development environment and tool stack
- Knowledge in artifact management such as Artifactory.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment
- RESTful web services development experience
- Experience with containerized architectures and systems
- Experience with cloud-based (AWS preferred) environments
- Experience with *nix-based systems and scripting
- Version control systems experience (Git and Atlassian suite)
Salary and Other Compensation :
The annual salary for this position is between $72,000- $132,090 USD depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
