Team Introduction
The Cloud Native Infrastructure team is one of the core engineering teams of ByteDance R&D. The team implements and manages a Kubernetes-like container orchestration platform with high scalability, high availability, extreme performance and high utilization assurance. Joining this team, you will:
- Experience and support the super-fast growing TikTok business and its ever-expanding fleet of machines across multi-clouds globally hosting hundreds of millions of containers and applications.
- Have direct opportunity to work with world-class engineers, CNCF & SIG experts, distributed system experts, etc, and grow your career with most popular cloud and open source technologies - Container, Kubernetes, etcd, Service Mesh, Serverless, etc.
- Have the chance to architect the next-generation of Cloud-Native Infrastructure for hosting highly complex workloads: AI/LLM, Microservices, big data, etc.
- Challenge yourself to solve unique, highly complex technical problems for Kubernetes cluster management and scheduling in a super-large distributed system.

Responsibilities:
This position allows the candidate to have one or multiple responsibilities as below:
- Build new features for Next-Gen K8s orchestration framework.
- Solve unique, large-scale, highly complex technical problems.
- Optimize K8s scheduling system to maximize resource utilization & workload performance.
- Help to standardize K8s platform deployment & operation process for agile TikTok business.
- Help to take cloud-native platforms to the next level for supporting emerging use cases - e.g., AI/ML Large Language Model, etc.
- Help to drive open-source advocacy by promoting internal K8s products for the community.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience with coding in one of the languages: Python, Java, Golang, C#, or C++.
- Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated software engineering experience from previous internship, work experience, coding competitions, or publications.
- High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving capabilities.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $144000 - $250000 annually. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
