JOB DESCRIPTION

IT Director

Mission

At Alliance Health System, our goal is to help our clients get their patients better faster, so that they can get back to doing the things they love. Accordingly, our approach to healthcare management is different: we seek to aid our clients in structuring treatment plans with patients, rather than for patients. We help clients ensure that their patients' goals can truly be their top priority by simplifying the process of running a practice. In short, we provide our clients with the best experience possible so that they can focus on their patients who, in turn, can Get Better Faster.

Role:

The IT Director is a key leadership role accountable for the comprehensive technology strategy, vision, and execution within our healthcare organization. This role is pivotal in fostering a collaborative work environment, innovation, spearheading technological advancements, and aligning technology initiatives with the organization's healthcare objectives. The IT Director works in synergy with various teams to augment patient care, enhance operational efficiency, and drive sustainable growth through effective technology utilization. Simultaneously, the IT Director will demonstrate their foundation of technological knowledge daily by assisting in technical support ticket management and support when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the company's technology vision and strategy, aligning it with the overall healthcare goals and regulatory requirements in collaboration with the CTO and technology team.
  • Oversee the IT ticket system and suggest workflows and priorities depending upon requests.
  • Lead and manage the technology department, including electronic health record (EHR) systems, health information exchange (HIE), telemedicine, cybersecurity, and IT operations.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging healthcare technologies and trends to determine their potential impact on the organization's operations and patient care.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, physicians, and healthcare professionals to define and prioritize technology initiatives that enhance patient outcomes, safety, and satisfaction.
  • Drive innovation by exploring and implementing healthcare-specific technologies, such as remote patient monitoring, artificial intelligence, and data analytics, to improve healthcare delivery.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of robust and interoperable software systems and applications that ensure seamless data exchange and integration across healthcare platforms.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with external healthcare technology vendors, electronic health record providers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare data privacy and security regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and implement measures to protect patient health information.
  • Manage the technology budget, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and cost-effective technology solutions specific to the healthcare industry.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the technology team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within a healthcare context.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant certifications in healthcare technology or informatics are preferred.
  • 8-10 years proven experience as an IT Director of Technology or a similar leadership role in the healthcare industry.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements, including HIPAA, HITECH, and interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR).
  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare-specific technologies, such as electronic health records (EHR), health information exchange (HIE), telemedicine, and clinical decision support systems.
  • Experience in leading and managing technology teams in a healthcare environment, including software developers, engineers, and IT professionals.
  • Demonstrated success in driving innovation and implementing technology solutions that have resulted in improved patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and healthcare delivery.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to anticipate healthcare-specific challenges, identify opportunities, and make informed decisions.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data analytics, population health management, and emerging trends in digital health.
  • Continuous learning mindset and staying up-to-date with healthcare regulations, emerging technologies, and industry best practices specific to the healthcare industry.
