About the Role:
As the Contracts Director you will play an integral role within the organization, overseeing the development, negotiation, and review of contracts with our global customers, particularly our U.S. government customers. This position ensures that agreements entered by General Dynamics Land Systems align with our strategic goals and comply with legal and regulatory standards. By managing the contract lifecycle from inception to conclusion, you will facilitate smooth business operations and partnerships. Your expertise in contract drafting, negotiation and administration, relationship building, and risk management will support GDLS's objectives, while also safeguarding its interests and minimizing potential legal issues. Through effective communication and collaboration with internal teams and external parties, you will contribute to the efficient and effective execution of business strategies.
Key Job Elements:
  1. Oversee the development, negotiation, and execution of business contracts to ensure they meet company objectives, policies and legal requirements
  2. Lead the U.S. Contracts team, including resource strategy and management, hiring, training and performance evaluation, to ensure efficient and effective contract management processes
  3. Implement and manage contract management tools, systems and procedures to streamline operations and enhance productivity
  4. Collaborate with internal departments, such as program office, legal, finance and procurement, to align contract terms with company strategies and risk management policies
  5. Analyze contract performance and financial implications to provide strategic recommendations and optimize business opportunities
  6. Facilitate dispute resolution related to contracts, working closely with legal counsel to mitigate risks and protect company interests
  7. Serve as a customer-facing representative focused on building trusted relationships with customers
  8. Conduct audits of existing contracts and oversee the renewal process, ensuring compliance with changing laws, regulations, and company objectives
  9. Provide strategic guidance supporting pricing strategies for proposals

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Demonstrated ability to balance contractual risk and business opportunities, exhibiting a strong understanding of financial impacts to business objectives
  2. Experience leading teams to achieve common goals and objectives
  3. Experience in complex proposal development, pricing, negotiation and resolution of contractual issues
  4. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute effectively to achieve short- and long-term objectives
  5. Demonstrated superior negotiation and communication (oral, written, presentation) skills
  6. Demonstrated strength in managing relationships at all levels of an organization, both internal and external
  7. Demonstrated versatility and knowledge of cross functional organizations and impacts to the business and financial outcomes
  8. Familiarity with U.S. government contracting regulations and processes
  9. University degree in business, law and/or equivalent work experience
  10. 10 plus years of experience in Contracts, Programs, Supply Chain, or related disciplines
  11. Ability to possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
