**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)
**Job Specialty:** Labor and Delivery
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 pm to 7:30 am
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum one year preferred; Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty
**License:** State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) required
**Certifications:**
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification - Required
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Certification - Required
**Must-Have:** Post-partum Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) experience
**Job Description:**
- Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and review of medical records and clinical data.
- Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team based on nursing standards.
- Demonstrate competency in therapeutic/diagnostic interventions, including IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection.
- Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect patients' health, safety, and rights.
- Provide patient and family education through assessment of learning readiness, needs, and ability.
- Recognize patients or designees as full partners, providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for patients' preferences, values, and needs.
- Deliver relationship-based care with respect for cultural differences and human diversity.
- Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel in accordance with nursing board and hospital policies.
- Use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies effectively to deliver high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating the nursing process's ethical, legal, and professional aspects.
- Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs.
- Adhere to standards of care, hospital policies, and regulatory guidelines.
- Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering communication, respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care.
- Precept/mentor new staff or nursing students as needed and seek opportunities for continuing education.
- Maintain professional records showcasing competency and lifelong learning.
- Evaluate nursing practice against professional standards, statutes, rules, and regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities to improve performance and patient outcomes.
- Use current healthcare research to expand clinical knowledge and enhance role performance.
**Additional Requirements:**
- Floating may be required within a designated radius or zone, possibly including duties outside of original job requirements, per policy.
