Responsibilities
We are currently seeking a highly talented and energetic Head of Enterprise Architecture (EA) to join our IT Leadership Team to lead the architectural strategy and execution for our organization. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of architectural principles, a proven track record of successful technology planning and visioning, and the ability to lead and inspire a team of architects as well as senior level analysts and engineers. In addition, the ideal candidate will have leadership experience at a fast-growing company in successfully envisioning and realizing enterprise strategies for advanced technologies including data analytics, cloud computing and artificial intelligence / machine learning.
As the Head of EA, you will manage a team of 10 to 15 teammates and will be responsible for defining SCA Health’s architectural vision including that of our partner facilities. You will drive alignment of this vision with business growth objectives and lead the high-level planning of SCA Health’s more complex and innovative solutions. In doing so, you will work closely with senior business and IT leadership, key internal and external stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure that our architectural practices are robust, scalable, aligned with industry best practices, and consistently adopted across the enterprise.
Your role and that of your team will involve establishing and nurturing a robust EA operating model that complements all other IT functions, evaluating, selecting and governing new technologies, planning SCA Health’s future state technology landscape and associated high-level plans (roadmaps), designing high-level solutions architectures, and providing technical guidance to ensure the successful delivery of projects. You will also be responsible for maintaining a strong focus on quality, performance, and security, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
This position is primarily responsible for leading EA in the areas of:
- Defining and implementing an enterprise architecture program and set of standard practices, including an enterprise architecture blueprint and roadmap.
- Building strong working relationships with partner executives, technology partners, customers, and all other relevant individuals and groups.
- Understanding and influencing business strategy.
- Defining and communicating SCA Health’s architectural vision and technology strategy in partnership with the CIO, executive leadership, and the IT Leadership Team.
- Gaining organizational commitment for enterprise-level architecture and infrastructure initiatives.
- Learning and maintaining a strong knowledge of the Health IT (HIT) marketplace and of emerging technologies that can support our company’s continued growth and success, organizing and executing innovation experiments where necessary.
- Leading SCA Health’s long-term strategic technology planning for all SCA IT systems, maintaining appropriate inventories and models for the company’s Current and Future State technology and data landscape.
- Driving the planning, development and implementation of a strategy to reduce the complexity of SCA’s information systems in a cost-effective manner.
- Leading and mentoring a team of architects and senior-level analysts.
- Ensuring alignment of architectural practices with business goals.
- Evaluating and selecting appropriate technologies as technology frameworks.
- Designing high-level Solution Architectures for SCA Health’s more complex IT needs.
- Providing technical guidance and oversight for projects.
- Conducting architectural reviews and assessments, governing all technology decisions, maintaining and communicating the inventory of standards which guide these decisions.
- Collaborating with senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Ensuring architectural practices are robust, scalable, and secure.
- Fostering a culture of quality, performance, security, continuous improvement, and innovation.
- Managing executive level stakeholders and stakeholder expectations, and related communications.
- Developing architectural metrics and reports for leaders across the organization.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science, architecture, IT, engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in IT architecture and engineering roles in an IT organization of 200+ teammates and a user base of 2000+ users.
- 5+ years of experience managing IT teams of 10 or more teammates.
- 2+ prior leadership positions establishing or materially evolving an enterprise architecture strategy and set of practices that align IT planning with company objectives.
- At least one prior leadership position in establishing a Cloud Computing strategy and driving the realization of significant shift from On Premise Workloads to Cloud.
- Proven track record of successful IT project planning and delivery, with strong working knowledge of the end-to-end Software Development Lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of architectural principles and best practices including blueprinting, governance, standards management, and innovation.
- Experience with a variety of complex architecture, technology, and data frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of security and compliance standards.
- Strong focus on quality, performance, and security.
- Ability to stay current with industry trends and advancements.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Other
- TOGAF or other enterprise architecture certification is strongly preferred
- Experience in leading technology planning / harmonization efforts relates to Mergers & Acquisitions is strongly preferred
- Experience leading technology strategy formulation in advanced architectures such as AI, Cloud, Data/Analytics and/or Information Security is strongly preferred
- Proactive, decisive, action-oriented individual
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including with Executive audiences
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation skills
- Able to clearly explain technical issues in a way that nontechnical people can understand
- Ability to be broadly focused and manage multiple efforts concurrently
- Ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization, including IT teammates, business stakeholders, and all levels of management, up to and including the CEO
