The Senior Director, Flexible Housing Pool (FHP) is responsible for the leadership, operations, and collaboration of the FHP. The FHP is a cross-sector investment and innovative program delivery strategy to increase housing resources in Chicago and Cook County for populations at the intersection of homelessness and other complex service needs. The Senior Director is responsible for relationships with key stakeholders in the health care, public and social services sectors, including subcontractor of the Center for Housing and Health (CHH). The Senior Director will oversee contract deliverables, expansion and quality management for the project. The Center for Housing and Health is a supporting organization of AIDS Foundation Chicago.

The salary range for this role is $97,000 to $114,000 annually.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Leadership, Sustainability and Expansion

  1. Develop and facilitate implementation of the Flexible Housing Pool (FHP)'s annual priorities
  2. Participate in the research and planning of new projects
  3. Strategically manage and implement program growth
  4. Hire, train, mentor, and supervise assigned staff; support in the recruitment and selection of team staff; create scheduling and job assignments; manage performance and complete and communicate performance evaluations; recommend salary, disciplinary, and other personnel actions in accordance with personnel policies and procedures; ensure professional development for all FHP staff members
  5. Provide leadership of the FHP, including all aspects of operations
  6. Ensure program metrics and outcomes are achieved
  7. Incorporate and align AFC/CHH's Racial Equity Action Plan (REAP)'s goals and objectives into the FHP
  8. Monitor expenses for FHP with support of Finance team
  9. Ensure contract compliance and that proposed program scopes of work are met
  10. Review and correct data to ensure accuracy for reports delivered to public and private funders

Partnerships

  1. Manage relationships with subcontracted partners
  2. Present to and support the FHP Governance Council, as needed
  3. Provide leadership and support for FHP Collaboration workgroups (i.e. Racial Equity, Lived Experience Advisory Committee, Sustainability)
  4. Support the execution of evaluations and research studies

External Affairs

  1. Foster and strengthen relationships with collaboratives, investors and partners within the FHP portfolio, including the city of Chicago's Service Coordination and Navigation (SCaN) program, Illinois Department of Corrections, Wellness West, and the South Side Healthy Communities Collaborative
  2. Present on the Flexible Housing Pool at national and local conferences
  3. Maintain strong connections with funders of CHH projects
  4. Lead or participate in committees of the Chicago Continuum of Care and other related systems of care
  5. Communicate with contracts at state and county agencies that support the implementation of the FHP

Other

  1. Assist with agency-wide activities as directed, including Annual Meeting, AIDS Run & Walk, and others
  2. Maintain and update job knowledge by participating in training and educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations
  3. Protect organization's value and manage risk by keeping information confidential
  4. Perform other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field and 3 or more years' experience in Homelessness and/or Healthcare sectors
  2. Two or more years supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Master's degree in Human Services or related field
  2. Five or more years' experience in Homelessness and/or Healthcare sectors
  3. Three or more years supervisory experience
  4. Established networks and contacts in the field

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills
  2. Strong leadership and management skills
  3. Knowledge of the homeless service system and other crisis service systems
  4. Ability to present to large groups, and a comfort level with presentations generally
  5. Excellent analytical abilities

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work environment is representative of that found in a general office environment. Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and on the telephone. Some travel required within the city of Chicago, Suburban Cook County and occasionally nationwide.
