The Aviation Department which operates the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and the North Perry Airport is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Accountant Senior Financial Operations to work in the Aviation's Finance Division. This advanced professional accountant works on the maintenance and review of financial records. The work involves performing more complex accounting duties in the Airport's Finance Division such as developing, revising, and installing accounting procedures and forms. The employee supervises a staff of subordinate accountants and nonprofessional employees. The employee exercises considerable independent judgment with established policies and procedures. Work is reviewed through periodic external audits and the evaluation of various reports.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or finance; or a bachelor's degree and coursework that qualifies for the CPA Examination.

Requires two (2) years of professional-level accounting, finance, or closely related experience, including six (6) months of lead/supervisory experience in accounts receivables.

Special Certifications and Licenses

  • Must possess a valid Florida driver's license during employment and maintain authority to drive on County business.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge and Customs Seal.

Preferences

  • Master's or Doctorate in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent.
  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
  • Accredited Airport Executive Certification (AAE) or Airport Certified Employee (ACE)
  • Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO)
  • 3 years of PeopleSoft Accounts Receivable experience

Salary

The salary range for this position is $70,307 - $112,209.

Per the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 49, Part 1542, all airport employees must undergo a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and a Security Threat Assessment (STA) to obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge, as required by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The functions listed below represent the majority of the time spent working in this class:

  • Be a subject matter expert on all aspects of the PeopleSoft AR module.
  • Review and approve payment applications on the PeopleSoft system.
  • Prepare monthly Collections Reports and hold monthly meetings with airlines and business divisions to review customer accounts and coordinate efforts to resolve problem accounts.
  • Provide external audit support.
  • This position will be the second in command to the AR Team representing the Manager of Financial Operations as needed.
  • Experience with ERP, preferably PeopleSoft, General Ledger and AR Module.
  • Advanced Excel training.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, and diligently.
  • Perform related work as assigned.

Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Processes/records financial transactions including reviewing/approving various accounting documents such as journal vouchers and cash receipts.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, or annual reports required by County Administrative Policies and Procedures and/or external parties.

Maintain customer table, including setting up new customers and/or updating existing customer information for all County agencies.

May assign, review, and approve the work of support and professional staff.

Performs related work as assigned.
