**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)
**Job Specialty:** PCU RN - Stepdown
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 12-hour Nights - 3x12s, Every Other Weekend, First to Float
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum 2 years
**License:** Required
**Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
**Must-Have:** Positive attitude, teamwork skills, patient-oriented mindset
**Job Description:**
- Work in a stepdown unit with a fast-paced environment involving many admissions and discharges.
- Participate in a Pass/Fail exam during orientation. This is an open-book exam on skills learned, with all necessary resources provided. A 90% score is required to pass.
- Handle a patient ratio of 1:4 with a focus on heart failure, Afib, respiratory distress, and stroke patients.
- Required to titrate drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitro.
- Serve alongside a Charge Nurse who also takes a full patient assignment.
- Collaborate with nurse aides/patient care techs at a 1:10 ratio.
- Assist with CPAP machines besides troubleshooting.
- Interpret and read their own tele monitor strips.
- Engage in cyclic scheduling with every third weekend required to work.
- Required to work one major and one minor holiday during the contract.
- Float to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) if applicable and experienced.
- One 12-hour shift orientation specific to the unit/department.
- Use EPIC charting system in a Level 3 Trauma Center.
