Systems Administrator: Motion Capture Support


Location: Playa Vista, CA


This is not a fully remote role; onsite availability is required.


PlayStation Studio IT is seeking a Systems Administrator to support the motion capture stages, ensuring availability of highly specialized services in a creative environment. While primarily concerned with the Santa Monica stages, this role will collaborate with other Sony MoCap stages (San Diego) and provide global support for the Creative Arts team.

Your customer service skills are top-notch, and you thrive in a live production environment, with a proven track record of success in high-stress, high-demand systems designed around specific technical workflows.


Responsibilities


  1. Serve as technical lead for the Motion Capture Stages, including associated servers, workstations, and the tools involved.
  2. Act as primary liaison with the Creative Arts Motion Capture team to align IT services with business requirements.
  3. Regularly assess the technical infrastructure needs of the Motion Capture stages and provide recommendations to enhance performance and stability.
  4. Work with and administer storage systems for the stage environment, including data availability and security.
  5. Handle and tune monitoring tools to ensure availability of critical hosts and services.
  6. Serve as main contact point for all technical stage issues.
  7. Document system configuration, workflow, and network diagrams.
  8. Available to work varying hours, shoot day schedules, on-call shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  9. Provide coordination with the greater Studio IT team, mentorship, and training for backup of support services.

Requirements


  1. Proficiency with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.
  2. Proficiency with scripting languages and automation (Python).
  3. Proficiency with previsualization and production tools (Motion Builder, Maya).
  4. Proficiency with digital asset management and version control (Perforce).
  5. Familiarity with Active Directory, license servers, and virtual machines (SQL, VMware).
  6. Familiarity with game engine tools (Unreal).
  7. Proven background in automated Linux deployment diagnosing.
  8. Specific on-set stage experience for virtualized production.
  9. 5+ years of relevant IT experience in a similar role.
