DuPage Legal Aid is looking for a full-time or part-timeStaff Attorney to join our dedicated team. This opportunity is perfect for professionals returning to the legal field after a career break or for anyone deeply committed to public service.

In this role, you will handle a diverse caseload of family law matters, including divorces, parental decision-making, parenting time issues, orders of protection, and guardianship cases. You will work exclusively in DuPage County, eliminating the need for extensive travel. If you have litigation experience and are comfortable in trial settings, you will find this role fulfilling and impactful.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle a variety of family law cases.
  • Report directly to the Executive Director.
  • Work collaboratively with a dedicated team of professionals.

Qualifications

  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar.
  • Legal practice experience preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent oral and written advocacy skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • The ability to work in and value a collaborative team model, pro-bono and public service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to commute to company office in Wheaton and DuPage County Judicial Center.

Compensation and benefits

Full-Time Position:

  • Competitive starting salary based on experience, with opportunities for annual increases and bonuses.
  • SEP IRA enrollment after one year, with a 10% employer contribution.
  • $400 monthly medical insurance stipend.
  • $10,000 life insurance policy.
  • Potential for a hybrid work schedule, including the option to work from home on days not required in court.
