The Opportunity

The CA & US Gas Project Services team is looking for a Project Support Analyst to join our team in Houston, TX. Reporting to the Project Support Manager, this position will guide a large, diverse team of project support professionals as we work to build the team and fully integrate project controls disciplines and standardize best practices.

The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience in project controls with the capacity to mentor team members and stakeholders through the implementation of best practices. In this role, you will also facilitate and support the quality and timely attestation and receipt of invoices, generate service requisitions, and support team initiatives including process improvements and change management. You will interface with project controls, project managers, subject matter experts, finance teams, supply chain, procure-to-pay, and external suppliers.

What you’ll do

  1. Provide leadership and mentoring to a diverse team related to project cost management.
  2. Drive consistent project support practices across multiple projects and teams.
  3. Collaborate with business partners to ensure processes and procedures are adhered to, gaps are identified and addressed, and best practices are followed.
  4. Support the project support team in identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives.
  5. Mentor junior project support analysts.
  6. Interface with internal stakeholders and external suppliers on rate management per contract terms stipulated in the agreement/Release Order pertaining to invoice quality.
  7. Create service requisitions and help maintain purchase orders.
  8. Validate invoices for accuracy as part of the payment process.
  9. Assist in the process to facilitate/resolve escalated problems.
  10. Adapt and apply procedures on medium complex and multifaceted matters.
  11. Provide support for external communications regarding policy, issue identification, and required next steps.
  12. Work to establish relationships with key vendors.
  13. Support vendors on process and technology requirements.
  14. Use MS Office, VIM, E-Commerce, and SAP daily.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. 6+ years of Project Support/Controls experience.
  2. Proven knowledge of Cost Controlling methods.
  3. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  4. Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  5. Experience with SAP.
  6. Experience with Excel spreadsheets, word processing, and database software; proficient in use of PC, with a willingness to use and learn current and future systems/applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Knowledge and experience with project and portfolio management processes, policies, and principles.
  2. Ability to mentor and lead with indirect influence.
  3. Strong attention to detail.
  4. Cost reports and forecast experience.
  5. Post-secondary education in a related field.
