Job Description

  • Perform quantitative analysis on investment performance and risk measurements.
  • Collect data from alternative and traditional sources to help maintain DUMAC internal databases.
  • Collaborate with investment managers to assist in preparing in-depth portfolio exposures and characteristics for portfolio review.
  • Conduct independent research projects with the potential to assist in AI, machine learning, ESG, portfolio optimization, and factor modeling initiatives.
  • Support quantitative analytical work and contribute to the enhancement of tools used for FX and CTA trading strategies.

What makes the analyst role a compelling opportunity?

  • Broad exposure to a wide range of asset classes and investment strategies. Summer Analysts may focus on liquid investments including equities, hedge funds, fixed income, and commodities and illiquid investments including venture capital, private equity, private credit, natural resources, and real estate.
  • Access to advanced AI and data science with investment. The intersection of technology and finance gives Summer Analysts a competitive edge by understanding how innovative techniques are applied in investments.
  • Responsibility. DUMAC’s small and flat organization provides analysts the opportunity to assume significant responsibility.
  • Culture. The environment at DUMAC is highly collegial. Analysts are encouraged to pursue research projects that could be additive to the investment process and to share opinions on managers or markets throughout the process.

What makes an endowment unique?

  • An infinite time horizon allows the investment team to make long-term allocations, take positions contrary to popular opinion, and accept volatility in individual investments.
  • Large weightings in emerging markets, commodities, and alternative and illiquid investments drive investment performance to a level not obtainable by most market participants.

Qualifications

  • Current student at accredited college or university, with a strong academic record.

  • Ability to work with and contribute to a small, dynamic team.
  • Strong interests in asset management and investment.
