Network Admin - Cisco

Start: Immediate

Location: Northampton, MA

Length of Contract: 6 months+ (Possibility to go perm if wanted)

*client is also open to hiring perm from the outset. Salary expectation is 130,000 a year.

Schedule: 4 days a week onsite, 1 remote (40 hours a week)

Client is in the beginning stages with a digital transformation with Cisco. They are moving from a traditional over the top network to a SD-WAN / SDA network. It’s unique because it is a rare opportunity to be a part of a transformation this large from the ground up.

Looking to add a Cisco Network Admin / Engineer to their team. Full details below.



From the Client:

 Monitors and manages incoming work, provisioning of network workflows, and incident requests.

 Other support tasks, duties, and responsibilities may be assigned depending on workload and the

employee’s skill level. Examples include hardware installations, troubleshooting, and DNS / DHCP

administration.

 Utilizes scripting, automation, and infrastructure as code to standardize and simplify network hardware and

software deployment, configuration, and management:

o The purpose of infrastructure as code (IaC) is to enable developers or operations teams to

automatically manage, monitor and provision resources, rather than manually configure discrete

hardware devices, operating systems, applications, and services. IaC is sometimes referred to as

programmable or software-defined infrastructure.

 Supports and automates highly available network infrastructure across LAN and WAN network

environments:

o Network automation refers to the process of automating deployment, configuration,

testing/validation, and operation of LAN / WAN network devices that can be physical (routers,

switches, access points, firewalls, etc) or virtual (public cloud networking, virtual machines,

containers, virtual network functions, etc). Network automation can be applied to a broad range of

enterprise and service provider network services.

 Occasional after hours and weekend work may be required in order to perform tasks that cannot be done

during business hours.

 The engineer will be expected to participate in the Network Engineering on call rotation and will carry a

pager and/or cell phone 24x7.

 Complies with all Network Engineering services, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications: (Must be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of

the job.)

 Valid Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.

 Valid Wireless certification is desirable (CCNA and/or CWNA).

 Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.

 5+ years’ experience with networking and internetworking devices and software. Experience with large

mission-critical internetworks required.


Skills/Abilities/Competencies: (Must be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the

essential functions of the job.)

 Cisco Routing and switching knowledge with Nexus, Catalyst, Integrated Service Routers, SDA, SD-WAN, and

Catalyst Center.

 Knowledge of Cisco Wireless Controllers and Wireless Access Points.

 Knowledge of routing protocols – MPLS, BGP and OSPF.

 Knowledge of network protocols – Spanning Tree, VLANs, 802.1Q, and VPC.

 Knowledge of cloud technologies.

 Experience with administrating DNS / DHCP systems.

 Customer Service.

 Project Management.

 Teamwork.

 Good communication skills

 Ability to learn and be self-directed

 Independent

 Diligent in regard to creating and maintaining detailed computer incident logs

 Dependable in regard to providing regular status reports.
