Job Requirements / Description

This position is responsible for the planning of, and for the maintenance operations of the campus (facilities, grounds, etc.). The campuses are to be safe, secure, attractive, clean, and in good functional and structural repair.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the campus building operations, including service and preventive maintenance contracts. Implement programs to ensure a safe work and learning environment (e.g. OSHA standards compliance, code requirements, etc.).
  • Leadership and supervision of maintenance team.
  • Oversee renovation and construction projects in compliance with college policies and procedures, as well as legal and regulatory requirements. Coordinate the work of architects and engineers, contractors, etc.
  • Coordinate repair damage of defects in walls, ceilings, windows, doors, etc., and perform minor remodeling and equipment relocation as approved. Maintain maintenance of building support systems.
  • In cooperation with campus leaders prioritize needs, project scope, and corresponding budgets.
  • In cooperation with campus leaders, identify and prioritize long-term facility needs (including new leasehold, new construction, and cooperative or joint use facilities) to meet current and future needs.
  • Keep elevator license, permits and inspections current with Indiana Homeland Security.
  • Manage environmental issues for compliance, as well as in emergency situations.
  • Manage the facilities budget and expenditures. Prepare periodic budget estimate and reports; reviews financial reports to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving functions for all sites.
  • Manage physical plant maintenance inventory.
  • Maintain the Building Master List and insurance Statement of Values for all structures. Ensure that building and room utilization reports are current and accurate.
  • Actively participate in Campus Safety Committee as directed by Safety Lead. May participate in other committees as determined.
  • Daily approval of system transactions, including but not limited to, requisitions, expense reports, credit card transactions, and time sheets.
  • Quickly and courteously responds to all concerns regarding the cleanliness and safety concerns of campus. Manage work order assignments.
  • Attend Statewide Directors and Facility Meetings.
  • Prepare Facility Campus Board Reports as directed by campus leaders.
  • Keep the Facility Business Continuity Plan up to date as directed by Security Lead.
  • Coordinate with Security Lead to perform quarterly safety walk through inspections.
  • Conduct weekly 4DX Meetings with team.
  • Develop grounds maintenance RFPs (Request for Proposal), and related contracts, which ensures that the campuses are well groomed and are acceptable in appearance at all times, including mowing and snow removal.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree: degree preferably in a related field
  • Five years related work experience or industry related certifications.
  • Three years supervisory experience is required.
  • Must have working knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Must be able and willing to travel with valid driver’s license and meet requirements under the College’s driver insurance program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in a related field, with five years related work experience
