Your Impact
The Human Resource Generalist (HRG) will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Human Resources department. This role involves assisting the Human Resources Department in various functions, including full cycle recruiting efforts, implementing our training plan, coordinating our performance management process, benefits administration, compliance, employee relations and employee engagement events. As a mid-level position, the HRG will work in a wide range of capacities to ensure that the company is sourcing, developing, and retaining top talent. The HR Generalist will ensure that HR initiatives align with the company's goals and that all HR processes meet legal and company standards. This position requires a dynamic professional with knowledge of construction industry practices, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture.

Full Time - (Salary-Exempt)
Salary
$75,000 - $110,000
Reporting Relationship
Reports to the Director of Professional Development and Recruiting, or other assigned supervisor(s).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The duties, responsibilities and attributes of the Human Resources Generalist include, but are not limited to:
Technical Skills

  • Benefits - participate in annual benefit renewals and manage the enrollment process in our HRIS.
  • Policy - assist in ensuring our employment policies and employee handbook comply with federal, state and local employment laws.
  • Recruiting - Work with the Director and company executives to identify hiring needs, source candidates, conduct initial interviews, and schedule interviews with executives and our interview team.
  • Recruiting - Supports university recruiting efforts, including posting opening positions and attending career fairs, info sessions, and other events as required.
  • Recruiting - Manages recruiting collateral; assists in updating and ordering new material as needed.
  • Assists in the planning and execution of all college graduate and internship activities.
  • Onboarding - Help refine and execute our onboarding strategy through orientation, training, and coaching.
  • Assists in the candidate lifecycle process, including coordinating interviews, managing applicant tracking system, and facilitating new-hire onboarding.
  • Training - Help develop our annual training plan, coordinate training sessions and work with subject matter experts to prepare and conduct training. Use our LMS system to help managers assign online training plans for individual employees and groups of employees.
  • Performance Management - Work with the Director to develop and refine evaluation tools. Schedule and launch our twice-annual performance management process.
  • Coordinates with various internal committees to achieve department and organizational initiatives.
  • As appropriate, maintains accurate records of the applicant tracking system (ATS) and human resource information system (HRIS).
  • Employee relations - Serve as the first point of contact for employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and concerns.

Qualifications
  • Four-year degree in Human Resource (preferred), Business, Business Administration; or equivalent experience in a related field and a minimum of 6-10 years of relevant Human Resources disciplines or equivalent. SHRM or HCRI Certified (PHR or CP) strongly preferred.
  • General knowledge of current HR practices and thorough working knowledge of labor laws.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with people at all levels of the construction industry.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to develop relationships within the company
  • Proficiency in computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and ability to learn other software management systems required to perform your position. Knowledge of Linkedin and ADP Workforce Now is not required, but highly desired.
