Mott MacDonald is looking for a Construction Manager/Resident Engineer to join our expanding construction management team in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are currently looking for a professional with experience in large underground water/wastewater conveyance infrastructure and/or tunnels.

Job responsibilities include:

  1. Lead on-site delivery of construction management (CM) services and manage a team of CM professionals including Assistant RE/CMs, Office Engineers, Inspectors, and other CM professionals, as necessary.
  2. Support construction safety implementation through understanding of safety requirements. Confirm construction contractor safety programs are submitted, approved, and followed by all parties involved in the project.
  3. Implement schedule, cost, quality, communication, decision-making, and information tools and processes across the project.
  4. Support program and project controls activities such as schedule control, cost control, change management, risk management, and reporting tools.
  5. Lead project meetings with client, contractor, and stakeholders.
  6. Monitor the contract progress and make recommendations to client for contractor payments.
  7. Work to build a cooperative partnership between client, contractors, and all stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of project issues and the overall success of the project.
  8. Responsible for the enforcement of contract documents including plans and specifications.
  9. Understanding of start-up and commissioning plans and identify associated resources as necessary.

The successful candidate will require the following:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree.
  2. Fifteen (15) years of experience performing construction management, whereof five (5) minimum in mechanized tunnel excavation.
  3. EPB TBM project experience.
  4. California PE, PMP or CCM certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Construction management experience working on large diameter water/wastewater (or industrial) conveyance pipelines.
  2. Tunneling experience in urban settings dealing with multiple stakeholders and the public.
  3. Proficiency in the use of computers to prepare reports using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  4. Experience working in/for municipal agencies or utility infrastructure organizations.
  5. Ability to respond proactively in a high-paced environment and willingness to adjust and respond effectively to changes.
  6. 3rd party coordination.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $225,000
