ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

UC San Diego is hiring a temporary Procurement Analyst to support the campus operations for the 2024 - 2025 School Year.

Duration: This role is anticipated to last 11 months

Compensation: $33.29 to $39.75/hour. Eligible for paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Full-medical insurance also available.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Location: Hybrid arrangement, On-site days: Tuesdays & Wednesdays.

DESCRIPTION

Incumbent serves as Senior Buyer, Professional Services in Procurement & Contracts --a division of Integrated Procure-to-Pay Solutions (IPPS) housed within Business and Financial Services (BFS). Responsible for purchasing commodities of a technical and specialized nature that are customized to meet the University's needs and specifications; deals directly with suppliers; negotiates and manages service contracts; and may serve as a work leader for support personnel. In support of campus and system-wide strategic sourcing initiatives, the Senior Buyer assists with the solicitation of prospective vendors using the University Request for Proposal/Quotation/Information (RFX) processes. The Buyer completes cost-savings reports, spend analyses, and identifies and works with key stakeholders to increase customer satisfaction and vendor performance under university agreements. This position manages Professional and Medical services, and related commodities within the context of Oracle, UCSD's e-Procurement portal. The incumbent is also responsible for adoption and implementation of strategically sourced agreements.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Analytical skills necessary to evaluate the quality and cost effectiveness of multiple and complex purchasing options.

  • Ability to analyze complex data and information, recognize potential impact, identify alternative solutions, and make recommendations to staff, management and business units. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

  • Strong interpersonal, listening, communication and critical thinking skills, including the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner verbally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated skill in negotiating and exchanging ideas with others and to arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions or solutions.

  • Ability to read and interpret terms and conditions of contracts.

  • Strong level of proficiency in the use of standard spreadsheet and word processing software.

  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft software applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Strong skills in the use of ERP / financial systems (such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, Banner, etc.).

  • Familiarity working with eProcurement systems and an understanding of the eCommerce principles.

  • UC and/or UCSD procurement related experience and familiarity with UC accounting, procedures, reporting, policies and administrative organization.

  • Experience with the UC Strategic Sourcing process, competitive bidding requirements and the cost per quality point award methodology.

  • Degree in Business Administration or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
