Job Requirements / Description

Company Description

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.

So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality through Afterpay, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.

Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.

Job Description

The Square App Marketplace is a platform that connects third party integrations using Square’s APIs to meet different seller needs. The Partner Quality team tests and validates all 3P integrations prior to listing and launching with Square. It is our responsibility to ensure all applications endorsed by Square meet our App Marketplace requirements and provide a best-in-class experience to sellers.

As we scale the App Marketplace enabling developers to submit applications without going through a rigorous vetting process, we are expecting an increased volume of applications. We are looking for a Software QA Engineer to work with developers and cross-functional teams to rapidly execute tests to evaluate the quality of 3P integrations. The successful candidate will have experience in non-traditional manual QA testing applications built by different developers and managing many concurrent work streams with short timelines. You will be comfortable dealing with external-facing project stakeholders, web and mobile application development basics, and repeatable processes. This position reports to the head of Partner Quality.

You Will:

  1. Execute QA testing to evaluate the API functionality, user experience and design, and security of third party applications.
  2. Work with Product Management, Engineering, GTM, and Partner Marketing teams to ensure high quality of integrations and mitigate launch blockers and dependencies.
  3. Document integration issues, assess severity of blockers and communicate feedback and recommendation to external developers to improve their integrations.
  4. Manage concurrent projects with different timelines and priority needs.

Qualifications

You have:

  1. Minimum of 2 years of experience in technical product and/or user testing.
  2. Basic understanding of RESTful API design.
  3. A strong aptitude for learning new technologies.
  4. Experience working with cross-functional teams and external contractors in a technical organization.
  5. Experience working with Salesforce and JIRA tools.

You are:

  1. An excellent problem solver, communicator, and team player.
  2. A motivator and influencer of cross-functional stakeholders, able to direct team members and external partners in order to deliver on the defined strategy.
  3. Passionate product-minded tinkerer focused on customer and stakeholder experience and goal attainment.
  4. Ready to work with projects with ambiguity and feel comfortable in it.
