Key Responsibilities:
- User Support: Provide high-quality technical support to students, staff, and faculty for SDSU's core systems, including SDSUid, Duo Multi-Factor Authentication, Google Workspace, Zoom, and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Problem Resolution: Assist users in troubleshooting and resolving issues, ensuring optimal system performance and data access.
- Application Support: Install, configure, and modify software applications as needed to meet user needs.
- Help Desk Operations: Deliver support through phone, virtual consultations, and on-site assistance. Contribute to end-user programs and projects, collaborating with ITS service units as needed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with faculty to offer consultation on integrating technology into instructional design and delivering technology-enhanced education.

Position Information
- Full-time, benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
- Position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
- The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Department Summary
The SDSU OneIT Community is vital to the university’s success by delivering core technology services across our campuses, colleges, administrative areas, and auxiliary units. Our mission is to support innovation in teaching, research, and service by strategically developing infrastructure, responsibly managing IT assets, actively engaging with our community, and fostering collaboration.
IT Services (ITS), Service Management comprises Desktop Services, Learning Environments, and the ITS Help Desk. These areas combine technical expertise, customer service, and proactive problem-solving to enhance the overall technology experience for the SDSU community, including students, staff, faculty, and emeritus staff and faculty.
Education and Experience
To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical information systems and application program packages is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Information Technology Consultant, depending on the nature of the position assignment, may include working knowledge of common software application packages, equipment platforms, reference database systems and sources, and training methods and a basic understanding of networks, data communication, and multimedia systems.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree OR at least four years of related and professional experience.
- Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to analyze situations accurately and take appropriate action.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of a broad range of audio and video equipment, including distribution and projection systems.
Licenses/Certifications Required
- California driver’s license.
- Certification of completion of driver safety training as required by CSU Office of Risk Management must be obtained as soon as possible after hire date.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,334 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
San Diego State University offers a rich benefits package that constitutes a major portion of total compensation.
CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,094 - $7,881 per month.
