The Iowa Insurance Division (IID) is seeking a Financial Analyst to join the Company Regulation Bureau. This position is entry level and offers opportunities for growth.
The Company Regulation Bureau (CREG) is responsible for monitoring and ensuring the solvency of insurers doing business in Iowa, with policyholder protection being the key objective.
The analyst serves as the primary source of information regarding the solvency and operation of the insurers assigned for their review. Analysts analyze/review all key
aspects of assigned insurance companies, including but not limited to financial statements, actuarial opinions, audited financial reports, intercompany transactions, enterprise risk management, and corporate governance.
The Analyst leverages information obtained from review of statutorily required filings, company meetings, ongoing field examination updates and findings, as well as public filings and news sources as they collaborate with an assigned reviewer (who provides both written and verbal feedback/guidance) to document their understanding of an insurer using a risk-
focused analysis process.
Analysts attend and participate in continuing education opportunities to keep abreast of trends in the insurance market and changes in regulatory requirements. Travel for the position is generally training-related, with overall travel for the position at less than 5%.
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
