Job Summary

The Director of Energy Management is responsible for leading and overseeing the energy management program, policies, and initiatives for the institution. This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities and collaborative efforts to develop and implement strategies to reduce energy consumption, costs, and greenhouse gas emissions across the campus.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Energy Program Development and Management (63%)

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive energy management plan that aligns with the institution’s mission, vision, and goals.
  • Identify, prioritize, and implement energy efficiency, conservation, and renewable energy projects.
  • Manage and optimize the energy budget, procurement, and contracts.
  • Prepare and present energy performance reports to senior leadership.
  • Monitor and analyze the energy performance of the institution’s buildings and systems.

External Outreach (7%)

  • Lead and participate in energy-related committees and represent the institution in external energy forums.
  • Promote energy awareness and engagement among the institution’s community.

Energy Policy Creation, Maintenance, and Compliance (13%)

  • Establish and maintain energy policies and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Leadership and Supervision (12%)

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the energy management team.

Other (5%)

  • Create and foster a work environment that is inclusive and welcoming to all staff and students.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, energy management, or related field.
  • Five years of experience in energy, facilities, or related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • High level of initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to Oregon State University’s values.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Master’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or equivalent certification.
  • Proficient in using energy data analysis tools.
  • Five years of progressive experience in energy operations management.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

Working conditions include a combination of office and on-site project visits. Occasional weekend and evening work required.

Pay Period: 1st through the last day of the month

Pay Date: Last working day of the month

Recommended Full-Time Salary Range: Salary is commensurate with skills, education, and experience.
