This position will be part of the Robotic Systems Development (RSD) team within the Central Technology Office (CTO). This position is located in Holland, MI. This is a hybrid position requiring three days in-office and two days optional to work from home.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $82,875 - $121,550 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Execution and/or assistance on AGV Systems Risk Assessments
  • Visiting customers sites to execute the System RA
  • Execution and/or assistance on AGV Risk Assessments (RA)
  • Defining and documenting safety requirement specifications (SRS) for the Vehicle and the System
  • Evaluation of the PL (Performance Level) of the Safety Functions from hardware side using BGIA Sistema tool
  • Assistance in defining and documenting test validation reports
  • Collecting the documentation required to compile the Technical File TF as required in the Machine Directive 2006/42/EC
  • Prepare the documentation to demonstrate the compliance to the Directive and Standards of the Vehicle and System
  • Preparing safety related information for the document writers
  • Evaluate safety standards under review and propose improvements
  • Create or improve internal KION safety related instructions and procedures

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
  • 5 years of experience in execution Risk Assessment and conduct and manage Risk Assessments meetings

  • Experience with execution of Risk Assessments
  • Experience with the use of functional safety tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic controlling systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and performance integration related applications
  • Passion for standards and rules with the skill to translate the requirements into clear instructions for your stakeholders
  • You are fluent in English. Additional language skills are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Agile methodologies
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
  • 5 years of hardware/software and/or functional safety design experience in the autonomous industry
  • Having CMSE and/or CECE certificates
  • Knowledge of IBF “Safexpert”
  • Other standards of the ISO 3691 series

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional travel to support commissioning and testing at customer sites.
  • Occasional international travel to visit other KION sites.
