Responsibilities:
BGS is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer for our Idaho Falls, ID office. This engineer will work in a dynamic multi-discipline environment, accountable for engineering deliverables, calculations, systems and equipment selection, mechanical design, mechanical engineering budget and schedule management, maintain professional relationships with vendors, customers, personnel as required by projects. The Sr. Electrical Engineer will work with other engineering and technical personnel to ensure overall project goals are met. Periodic travel to project site locations may be required.
- Develop electrical design documents and drawings.
- Primary interface with clients, project management, procurement professionals, and other engineering disciplines in matters dealing with project electrical systems.
- Develop electrical basis of design and scope of work documents.
- Develop equipment specifications for electrical equipment, including power transformers, switchgear, MCC's, motor specs, and other auxiliary electrical equipment.
- Develop electrical calculations, drawings and reports.
- Ensure technical accuracy and conformance to project design criteria of engineered work products.
- Ensure appropriate procedures, design guidelines, and design tools are utilized on projects.
- Expertise in MV and LV systems, electrical coordination studies and electrical calculations is required.
- Expertise encompassing industrial power document development such as electrical load lists, one-line diagrams, short circuit, load flow and arc flash analysis, power and control schematics, hazardous area classification, grounding layouts, lighting layouts, electrical equipment specifications, power and MCC panel layouts.
- Proficient knowledge of industry codes and standards (NFPA/NEC, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, API, ISA).
- Experience with power analysis design software (ETAP, SKM).
- Proficient knowledge of electrical distribution systems at various voltages (120 VAC, 480VAC, 4160VAC, and 13.5KV) as they relate to the power generation industry and other heavy industrial projects.
- Relay Programming experience required (SEL, Beckwith, Basler, GE, etc.).
- Experience working on refurbishment and upgrades of existing industrial facilities. Proficiency in communicating with client engineering and site staff.
Requirements:
- Minimum of ten (10) years of electrical design experience in energy, power generation, power delivery, and power transmission utilities and/or related industries.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
- Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain your PE within the first year of employment in Idaho.
- Successful drug screening.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
- Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Significant experience with industrial electrical systems.
- Knowledge of Building Codes including NEC.
- Knowledge of IEEE, DOE, NRC Standards.
- Knowledge of DOE and/or INL nuclear facilities design.
- Knowledge and previous use of Autodesk Revit, ETAP, SKM, SolidWorks Electrical.
Regarding Location/Work Arrangement:
- This position is located in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
- This position is onsite but can be a Hybrid Work Arrangement.
