About The Team

Our phenomenal Retail Operations team interacts with our customers in a super special way. Our customers love shopping in stores due to the exceptional experiences they have with our Retail team.

We are looking for a Director, Retail Operations who will be responsible for evolving the scale, efficiency and effective management of our retail operational function.

Reporting into the Vice President, Retail, this role will be responsible for overseeing the people, processes and budgets and delivering both short and long term priorities and plans. A successful candidate will be a leader with the proven ability to successfully motivate, mentor and develop a team to represent the Rothy’s brand and have exceptional strategic organizational skills and a passion for continuous improvement. The Director will work closely with our internal teams to lead and develop a first-class retail operations department that supports the company’s existing brick and mortar portfolio and planned future growth.

What You’ll Do

Strategy & Processes:

  • Oversee the review and revision, as needed, of all retail operating policies and procedures to ensure best in class operations, compliance, efficiencies, and sustainability practices.
  • Partner on strategy and planning for retail facilities maintenance and operational safety and security compliance.
  • Work closely with retail development to support planning for new store pipeline and new store openings.
  • Implement processes and teams that support Rothy’s growth and service objectives; ensure brand appropriate customer experience is delivered across all retail operational activities and touchpoints, including point of sale, packaging and presentation.
  • Oversee the development of communication and resource tools, as well as the continual improvement of all Retail operations processes including product flow, point of sale and store level inventory controls.

Leadership, Culture And Team:

  • Lead and develop a retail operations team that will scale and grow with the business and that works effectively with other functions (inventory planning, customer experience, distribution, facilities and maintenance, retail development, IT/Tech and People Team) to create alignment and optimization.
  • Create a culture of continual improvement, customer service focus and cost optimization, aligned with Rothy’s values.
  • Require and model an inclusive culture throughout the department by ensuring respectful and equitable practices; ensure consistency and fairness in departmental processes that result in equitable outcomes.
  • Establish proactive and consistent communication and feedback with the retail operations team by reinforcing clear performance expectations and driving accountability.

Inventory Management:

  • Oversee physical inventory management processes in stores to include receiving product, shipping product, returned product, RTVs, cycle counts, etc.
  • Lead and support the resolution of inventory process-related issues.
  • Serve as the retail point of contact for optimizing omni-channel processes (ship from store, in-store pickup, etc).

Cost & Service Management:

  • Lead budget management, financial analysis, reporting standards, performance measurement and communication that provides visibility and guidance for operations team and leadership.
  • Explore and drive opportunities to scale costs through CAPEX, systems improvement and automated processes, that have a strong ROI.
  • Develop and evolve management reporting, operational analysis and provide visibility to key partners.
  • Provide visibility and transparency to key partners across the business on receiving and shipping service levels and capacity, including Supply Chain, Customer Experience, Retail and Merchandising.
  • Manage Retail OPEX budgets to include variable labor, outbound shipping budget, and introduce key initiatives to maintain service levels while reducing costs.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of storage space, equipment and teams.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in a director level role in retail operations management.
  • Working knowledge of retail operations, inventory, technology communication platforms, and expense management.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts related to project evaluation, financial forecasting, return on investment, etc.

  • Gifted analytical thinker; proven ability to synthesize complex data into simple and compelling recommendations for improvement.
  • Experience working in a high growth environment, able to effectively lead the department through complex, ambiguous situations and change.
  • More apt to saying “yes” or “we’ll try” (rather than “no” or “that’s impossible”).
  • Acts with a sense of urgency--strong time management.
  • Known as someone people want to work for and follow, actively identifying opportunities to support team’s growth and development.
  • Someone who leads by example, and coaches team members by sharing knowledge and experiences.

Pay Range:

$175,000-$200,000 annually. Base pay is one part of the total rewards package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work. This role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
