Position Summary: The Trade Compliance Analyst III will be responsible for processing all Export licenses and Import permits through the pertinent US government agency in accordance with Import and Export laws and regulations. This role reports to the Trade Compliance Manager, under the Legal Department. The expectation of this role is to build upon the role of a Trade Compliance SME with a willingness to begin to take advantage of leadership and stretch opportunities in and outside of the Legal Department.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare State and Commerce Department Export license applications to support SIG's Global Sales, Training, and other business activities.
  2. Provide guidance and assistance to internal organizations regarding requirements for licenses to ensure compliance with US regulations.
  3. Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and training.
  4. Manage and know the specific assigned territory.
  5. Monitor and keep records of controlled Technology/Technical Data to prevent unauthorized access and/or transfer.
  6. Determine Import permit needs for renewals to prepare applications.
  7. Prepare ATF Import Permit applications to support new supply chain needs.
  8. Ensure compliance with all Export license conditions and provisos.
  9. Conduct denied party screenings as needed.
  10. Maintain and revise desk procedures related to Compliance functions.
  11. Monitor and maintain records of all exports against licenses or exemptions/exceptions.
  12. Provide ongoing support of recordkeeping.
  13. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Import and Export regulations and other relevant related laws and regulations.
  14. Must follow all Trade Compliance policies and procedures.
  15. Must be able to travel infrequently.
  16. Engages in and actively volunteers for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
  17. Acts as a backup to lead as needed and perform audits as required.
  18. Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education/Experience & Skills:

  1. Bachelor's degree in related field strongly preferred plus a minimum of 5 years of experience and in-depth applied and demonstrated knowledge of Trade Compliance licensing and regulations.
  2. In-depth knowledge of US Export and Import Regulations including EAR, ITAR, ATF, and US Customs.
  3. Leading Role in Commodity Classification: HTS, ECCN, USML; this includes fixing and identifying errors.
  4. Self-starter level of competency for Trade Compliance matters.
  5. Capable of developing new processes, training, and documentation with assistance from management.
  6. Must be able to convey ideas and information clearly, concisely, and accurately to others.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  8. Must be well organized and possess time management skills to focus and manage multiple priorities.
  9. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
  10. Ability to follow through on all required paperwork including, but not limited to work instructions, checklist, processes and policies.
  11. Must have a positive and professional attitude.
  12. Experience in Microsoft Office required.
  13. Oracle and OCR experience preferred.

Working Conditions:

  1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
  2. Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
  3. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  4. Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  5. Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
