Job Requirements / Description

Job Summary: Responsible for managing the software development function. This role analyzes and solves IT service management problems, issues, and challenges, as well as process improvement recommendations and business requirements for identifying and developing automation solutions and processes.


Essential Job Duties:

  1. Develop and implement business plans, policies, and procedures.
  2. Collaborate with other teams to prioritize software development needs including design, development, and documenting and testing new and existing software.
  3. Evaluate results within business teams to determine if objectives are being met.
  4. Analyze and resolve software development issues and needs in terms of the software's full life cycle.
  5. Design, develop, test, debug, and implement operating systems components, software tools, and utilities.
  6. Ensure that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
  7. Conduct requirements gathering and analysis to understand the domain of the software problem and/or functionality, the interfaces between hardware and software, and the overall software characteristics.
  8. Use programming, scripting, and/or database languages to write the software code.
  9. Support software testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities by correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding software enhancements.
  10. Assume other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work, ensures quality standards. Responsible for hiring, terminating, training, and developing, reviewing performance, and administering corrective action for staff.

Basic Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience
  2. 12+ years of related experience.
  3. 4+ years of leadership experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  1. Ability to utilize complex computer operations (intermediate/advance programming, relational databases, and operating systems) and advanced features of software packages, including Agile development life cycle and business/technical requirements analysis, data modeling and Cloud design, deployment, and support of infrastructure for ERP and Service systems.
  2. Working knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, SQL Server), and creating/reviewing stored procedures.
  3. Strong experience building software applications utilizing PHP MVC frameworks, ES2015 Javascript, HTML5 and CSS frameworks like Bootstrap and/or MaterialUI.
  4. Strong Experience building RESTful API’s.
  5. Expertise in Object Oriented Programming, preferably with PHP.
  6. Working Knowledge of API management systems or enterprise service buses.
  7. Experience with deploying and monitoring applications on the Apache server.
  8. Experience with Ubuntu’s command line interface, package management and basic systems Administration tasks relevant to deploying applications.
  9. Working knowledge of React patterns and practices.
  10. Handles broad-based complex information across departments with company-wide impact. Presents to diverse audiences, and can negotiate, motivate, and persuade others.
  11. Decisions have significant, broad implications for the management and operations of a division. Job contributes to decisions on the overall strategy and direction of PGW.
  12. Problems are broad, complex, and abstract, often involving company-wide issues. Must develop solutions using substantial creativity, resourcefulness, innovation, negotiation, and diplomacy.
  13. Sets direction and vision for major departments or multiple departments. Establishes priorities, develops policies, and allocates resources for PGW.
  14. Prioritize, organize, and delegate project assignments company-wide: responsible for project outcomes.

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  1. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer, keyboard, and mouse, frequently. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  2. Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements) up to 10%.
