Summary
Responsible for ensuring the organic materials flow through the shakers, informs the heavy equipment operator to fill the shakers, performs housekeeping duties which include scraping, sweeping and shoveling, stacking bags, and assists where necessary at the direction of the foreman.

** Facility Expectations for Temporary Employees **
PPE: We require employees to wear required PPE at all times. PPE requirements may vary by task and area. At minimum, high visibility clothing, hard hat, eye, and foot protection (steel toed boots or shoes that are slip resistant) are required. Cut-2 level gloves for all tasks. Hearing protection is required in production areas. We provide all PPE except footwear. PPE is expected to be returned upon assignment completion.
DRESS CODE: Long pants that are of cotton or synthetic material are acceptable, no leggings, spandex, or sweatpants. Casual shirts, long or short sleeved that cover the shoulders are acceptable, no tank tops or tops with bare shoulders. Also inappropriate are shirts with potentially offensive and / or explicit words, terms, logos, pictures, cartoons, or slogans. Employees must have steel toed boots and/or shoes.
TOBACCO POLICY: We are a tobacco-free facility. There is no tobacco use permitted on our property at any time.
CALL-IN PROCEDURE: In addition to notifying the temporary agency the employee will be late or not reporting to work, we would appreciate a courtesy call prior to the start of the associate's shift. The number is: 810-724-0200
Recommended information: Name, Associate Number (this will be their time-clock number), reason for absence, if sick, basic symptoms they are showing, and dates of absence, with expected return to work date, and a call back number.
If the absence is COVID-19 related, they must provide:
  • COVID-19 testing status
  • If associate has been exposed or possibly exposed to someone else with diagnosed or presumed
  • COVID-19 (details on timing and who they were exposed to needs to be provided)
  • Under quarantine order from the government or health care provider, and why (possible
  • exposure, underlying health risk, traveled from high-risk area, etc.)
  • Names of other Scotts/Contingent associates who the associate had contact with, to determine if other associates were potentially exposed and dates of exposure
COVID-19 GUIDELINES:
Effective 10/10/2021, face coverings will be required for all associates, vendors, contractors and visitors upon entering our facilities.
For clarity, face coverings are required:
  • In all indoor spaces - including production areas, offices and all common areas (hallways, walk-ways, break/lunch rooms, restrooms, maintenance shops, store rooms, labs, etc.)
  • To be worn appropriately so they cover BOTH your nose and mouth.
  • Face coverings can be removed in the following situations or conditions:
  • While you are consuming food or drink (Note: You must still maintain 6' distance or have barriers to separate).
  • When operating PITs or working outdoors. (Anytime a second person is within 6', face coverings are required.)
**Other job duties may include, but not limited to: shoveling, sweeping, housekeeping, cleaning, labeling, or product repair.
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Maintains the flow through the shakers by poking the material to break it up to prevent bridging
  • Maintains the finishing screens by scraping them to insure the product flows through it
  • Performs housekeeping duties to insure the material does not accumulate under the conveyors, aisle ways and cat-walks by following safety practices to avoid injuries
  • Meets quality and quantity standards- Informs the maintenance personnel of any equipment problems in which they may encounter
  • Assists with small bag line operations as needed
  • Assists with restacking pallets and clean-up as needed
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Entry level experience- Electrical troubleshooting, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic repair experience
  • Ability to follow safety practices to insure their safety and the safety of others around them
  • Ability to work in a dusty environment, hot/cold/rainy weather
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on their feet for most of the day
