Description

We are seeking a Senior Substation Civil Engineer to join our organization in Chicago. As a core team member, you will lead and design high voltage utility Civil Substation projects, collaborating with other disciplines within the electric utility industry. Remote Capabilities Available: for select candidates located within client servicing territories!

Hybrid Work Schedule: (2-3) days a week in office!

Additional Office Location Options: Orlando, FL, Atlanta, GA, Charlotte, NC, Framingham, MA, Walled Lake, MI, Chicago, IL, Houston, TX, Portland, OR

The Challenge:

  • Land development permitting including NPDES, stormwater management, and knowledge of other typical local, state, and/or federal regulations and permit requirements
  • Research additional site data through various sources
  • Site layout, grading, and drainage design
  • Stormwater modeling and design
  • Erosion and sediment control design
  • Access road design
  • Utility coordination and design
  • Retaining wall layout and design
  • Documentation of all supporting calculations
  • Quantity take-offs
  • Construction drawings and specifications
  • Construction observation and field engineering
  • Coordination and collaboration with other design disciplines

What Sets you Apart:

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering with four (4+) years of directly applicable civil-site design experience
  • P.E. license preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D software and/or MicroStation OpenSite Designer software
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and other general software tools
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills
  • Team player with ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff
  • Able to execute projects and handle clients successfully with limited supervision
  • Willing to travel, up to 25%
  • Authorized to work in U.S.
