Department Overview: University Relations supports the teaching, research, and public service of UC Santa Cruz by making and keeping deep, heartfelt connections.

Job Summary: The University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) seeks a dynamic and experienced professional to join our University Relations team as the Executive Director of Parent & Family Development. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to engage parents & families in supporting UC Santa Cruz through philanthropic initiatives.

Appointment Information:

Budgeted Salary: $101,100 - $123,900/year. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.

Benefits Level Eligibility: Full benefits

Schedule Information:

  • Full-time, Fixed
  • Percentage of Time: 100%, 40 Hours per Week
  • Days of the Week: Mon-Fri
  • Shift Includes: Day

Job Duties:

40% - Parent Development and Engagement

  • Cultivate and steward relationships with parents, understanding their interests and motivations for supporting UC Santa Cruz.
  • Actively solicit gifts at all levels with a significant emphasis on major gifts ($50K and above).
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of annual and campaign-specific fundraising efforts targeting parents.

20% - Communication and Outreach

  • Develop compelling messaging and communication materials to effectively convey the impact of philanthropy on the university and its students.

20% - Collaboration & Supervision

  • Collaborate with other university departments to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to parent engagement and fundraising.

10% - Strategic Planning

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for parent/family fundraising aligned with the university's overall fundraising goals.

10% - Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Utilize data and metrics to evaluate the success of fundraising initiatives and make informed decisions for continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • A track record of success in securing major gifts and meeting fundraising goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple units in a large and complex organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A passion for higher education and an understanding of complex institutions.

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Ability to work a variable schedule including evenings and weekends.
