Position Overview:
As a key representative of Indiantown High School, you will work closely with students, parents, and the community to support student success. Your role will involve program planning, advisement, registration, and guiding students through to graduation. You will also provide essential IDEA services and crisis intervention, ensuring every student receives the support they need.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision, this position positively represents Indiantown High School working with the public, visitors, and community. Assist, guide, and make recommendations to students through the processes of program planning, advisement, registration, program completion and graduation. Interact effectively with students, parents and colleagues to assist students in formulating and achieving educational and career goals. Ensure the provision of appropriate and effective IDEA services. Provide crisis intervention services including follow up services as appropriate. Handle related office and record-keeping responsibilities, prepare records and reports as assigned. Assist in recruitment efforts. Make recommendations concerning instructional programs and needs to the school Administration. Collaborate with teachers to ensure successful student progress.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitor and facilitate student progress as well as participating in student recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Guide students toward program completion and achievement of educational goals.
  • Administer and proctor student tests and assessments.
  • Address all inquiries; completing degree audits and the graduation application process; collaborate with school and college colleagues for career counseling and special project assignments.
  • Compile data to assist Administration with master schedule development.
  • Attend school, district, and college wide meetings and participating in school and college wide initiatives.
  • Assist in coordinating appropriate services for exceptional students
  • Facilitate communication between IRSC instructors and High school dual enrollment students.
  • Assist with data collection and analysis for school improvement and accreditation.
  • Facilitate student/parent conferences.
  • Communicate with students and parents to ensure compliance with graduation requirements.
  • Provide students, parents, and staff with current school information, through avenues such as school announcements, newsletters and/or electronic communication.
  • Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in guidance, school counseling or related discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of counselor/guidance experience with counseling/advising experience at the high school level.
  • Position is Monday-Friday, 7:30-4:00 but requires periodically working a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the students and School.
  • Working knowledge of ASCA National Model; Framework for School Counseling and understanding of secondary and postsecondary curricula.
  • Knowledge of all applicable laws, policies and procedures related to the provision of student services is required.
  • Knowledge of IDEA/Exceptional Student Education and ability to develop and implement a 504 Plan.
  • Knowledge of high school and dual enrollment courses and programs; academic/technical program planning, advisement, registration processes and current educational research.
  • Knowledge of graduation requirements, state scholarship programs, financial aid, military, and career programs.
  • Experience in assisting students, through academic planning, tracking, use of analytics and timely intervention, to achieve educational goals leading to program completion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound judgement and proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, parents, and students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, and other Windows based computer applications.
  • Awareness of community resources and services available for student assistance.
  • Ability to assess levels of student achievement effectively, analyze test results and prescribe actions for improvement.
  • Ability to be highly productive within a flexible and variable work schedule.
  • Ability to be well organized and demonstrate effective time management, flexibility and creativity.
  • Must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for a School Counselor and/or eligible for the Florida certification in School Counseling (PK-12).
The following is preferred:
  • Counseling/advising experience at the College level.
  • Experience with FOCUS and Workday.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
