Parks Enforcement Patrol (PEP) provides a uniformed presence in parks, assists the public and issues summonses for violating park rules and regulations.
Major Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for at least one of the following areas:
Urban Park Service (UPS) Training Academy
- Work closely with the New York City Police Department, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services and other training divisions to review and improve the current academy. Manage all aspects of the UPS Training Academy, including the Parks Security Service budget, recruitment, training and deployment. Participate in the full-time and seasonal hiring process of all UPS staff. Maintain the UPS academy inventory. Perform other tasks as assigned.
Special Citywide Operations
- Duties include collaboration with Parks event staff, NYPD, and other agencies to coordinate security planning for major special events. Oversee Parks Enforcement Patrol deployment and activities during citywide beach operations. Serve as the Agency lead on homelessness in Parks. Serve as the division lead and liaison for Brooklyn Bridge and Hudson River Parks. Perform other tasks as assigned.
Citywide Operations
- Supervise field assignments and activities of Parks Enforcement Patrol officers. Instruct Captains and Sergeants on day-to-day operations. Perform inspections and evaluations of PEP Commands. Conduct investigations as assigned, respond to major incidents, and evaluate arrest reports. Work with NYPD and other agencies for problem-solving strategies to address quality of life concerns. Review and approve timesheet requests. Maintain UPS fleet. Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
1.A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of satisfactory, responsible full-time paid administrative, managerial, or chief of staff support experience in a governmental agency, business organization, civic organization or educational institution, or in a consultative capacity.
2.A satisfactory equivalent.
