JOB SUMMARY:

As a Data and Governance Engineer, your primary responsibilities will be to understand data requirements and deliver data models and assets that support BCI Miami's business needs. You will implement Data Governance strategies in coordination with the BCI Chile Data Governance Team to ensure the security, quality, and compliance of BCI Miami's organizational information. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, and understanding of Data Governance principles.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION

The duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Work closely with analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver data solutions that meet BCI Miami's business needs.
2. Implement Data Governance strategies to maintain data quality, classification, and control.
3. Implement Data Governance automation project (Catalog, lineage, lifecycle, metadata, etc.).
4. Establish data governance metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of data governance initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.
5. Provide guidance and support to data stewards and data owners to manage the data domains and data assets effectively.
6. Lead and manage end-to-end IT projects, coordinating all areas involved to ensure successful delivery on time and within budget.
7. Collaborate with BCI Chile and BCI Miami IT teams to integrate data governance controls into systems and applications.
8. Collaborate closely across all teams to facilitate change management and the adoption of new data initiatives.
9. Demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to deliver presentations to various audiences and business teams.
10. Ability to understand, speak (fluently), read and write English and Spanish.
11. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
12. Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
13. Effectively speak before groups of customers or employees.
14. Assume evolving duties and responsibilities of the position.
15. Work all hours required to fulfill job duties and responsibilities, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
16. Travel as required.
17. Provide coverage for other positions as requested.
18. Ability to carry and lift boxes and/or other objects that may weigh between 10 and 25 pounds.
19. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION

COMPUTER:

1. Ability to operate IBM compatible personal computers.
2. Fluency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Google Suite.
3. Ability to operate AS400 is preferred, but not required.

EDUCATION:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
2. Advanced degrees or certification in data management or data governance are beneficial.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

N/A

EXPERIENCE:

1. 3 years of proven experience with data transformation techniques to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality as a Data Engineer or similar role.
2. Profound comprehension of data modeling, ETL processes, and data integration concepts.
3. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
4. Proficiency in SQL, Python, PowerBI, Airflow, Purview, and Databricks.
5. Knowledge of Big Data and Data Lake technologies.
6. Experience working within the Azure cloud platform.
7. Familiarity with technologies applied to Data Governance.
8. Proven project management experience to effectively manage resources, mitigate risk, and achieve project objectives.
