JOB SUMMARY
The gym leadership team consists of the Assistant Gym Director and Gym Director, responsible for ensuring smooth operations, supporting staff, and providing an excellent customer experience. The Assistant Gym Director reports to the Gym Director.
The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service and leadership skills, along with excellent administrative abilities, and a proven track record in developing and managing a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Gym Director with managing all gym operations and administrative duties, including:
- Providing leadership and direction to staff in alignment with our mission, vision, and values
- Hiring, training, and scheduling staff
- Managing and mentoring staff
- Overseeing excellent front-line customer service
- Connecting with diverse community groups
- Leading and influencing through collaboration and consensus-building
- Financial reporting, deposits, and payroll tasks
- Resolving membership inquiries
- Serving as a shift supervisor as part of a rotating management schedule
- Working 1-2 desk shifts per week, including evenings and weekends
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Exceptional customer service skills, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills
- Excellent administrative abilities, including comfort with computer work and the ability to learn new software
- Strong leadership skills and effective communication of team goals
- Role model in current position, in good standing with management
- Experience in retail, instruction, and operations
- Ability to build and lead a high-performance team
- Vision for necessary tasks and self-directed execution
- Embodies the mission, vision, and values, fostering this culture in staff
- Problem-solving skills and sound judgment in difficult situations
- Proficiency in organizational tools such as web-based applications, MS Office, and POS tools
- Passionate about integrating and building the local climbing community
- Schedule & Presence :
- Consistent presence in the gym, including regular weeknight peak hours and flexibility to attend events.
- Regular use of district gyms for climbing, workouts, and yoga during peak hours.
- Sunday through Thursday work week.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Full-time position
- Salary starts at $74,400 - $78,000 annually based on experience and location
