VLS Environmental Solutions is seeking a Government Relations Account Manager with demonstrated success providing innovative solutions for the DOD. Responsible for strengthening and maintaining relationships with public/government institutions to provide best in class service and drive growth and retention. Accountable for ensuring an effortless experience and overall satisfaction is provided to assigned book of clients - local, county, city, state, federal institutions. Oversees the resolution of client inquiries, handling client escalations, building and maintaining internal and external relationships, and managing the day-to-day needs of the clients. Collaborates with Account Supervisor to establish and maintain expectations and timelines.

JOB DUTIES

  • Collaborate internally with other VLS groups, business units, and regional offices, with an external focus to maximize existing client opportunities and develop new clients.
  • Close new business deals by coordinating requirements, developing, and negotiating contracts, and integrating contract requirements with business operations.
  • Develop business opportunities at key EM operating sites including teaming with Management & Operations (M&O) contractors and contracts with DOD EM.
  • Provide thought leadership through articles, blog posting, conference presentations, etc.
  • Develop annual strategic, financial, and marketing business line goals in conjunction with DOD and EM team leadership.
  • Mentor and train account managers on various techniques and approaches to selling consulting services to the DOD.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Decommissioning & Demolition Familiar with Bid Sources like Sam.Gov
  • Familiar and working knowledge of waste disposal practices and key responsible parties. Remedial investigation & Design, including CERCLA & RCRA
  • Bachelor's degree in a business or technical degree
  • Minimum 7 years (10 years preferred) of business development or program management experience with DOD, preferably within Environmental Management (EM). Previous experience in DoD consulting/engineering and project management preferred.
  • Experience in DOD contracting and the ability to identify federal opportunities and take them through the strategic planning and proposal stages. Local and regional knowledge and relationships with key DOD Management & Operations (M&O) Contractors, DOD Leadership and small businesses is a must.
  • Ability to attract and retain clients and build backlog, revenue, profit, direct labor, and ROI over time.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required to develop and maintain relationships. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
