Description
The Bilingual Counselor -Sexual Violence is responsible for providing services with a trauma-informed, evidence-based, and client-centered approach to adult survivors of sexual violence. The Bilingual Counselor will facilitate group and individual counseling services at HAWC Survivor Empowerment Centers located in strategically identified locations in the Houston community and remotely from home.
Your Schedule:
  • Full Time
  • Monday - Friday
    • Three days per week 9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.
    • Two days per week 11:30 a.m.- 8:30 p.m.

Our Total Compensation Package:
  • Starting Pay Rate: $45,000yearly
  • Pay schedule semi-monthly

Qualifications
The Requirements We are Seeking:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Counseling, or Psychology
  • Entry level- internship experience required only.
  • Bilingual in both English and Spanish. Able to read, speak, and write both languages fluently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Computer savvy and able to learn new applications and systems quickly.
  • Strong data-entry skills.
  • Texas driver's license with a good drivingrecord; reliable transportation; ability to travel to off-site locations utilizing personal transportation, if applicable.
What you Deliver in this role:
  • You will provide group and individual counseling services to survivors of sexual violence at agency locations in communities and virtually reduce barriers commonly encountered by individuals within this population.
  • You will work cooperatively with other staff to ensure optimal utilization of resources and efficient management of the program.
  • Mandatory Reporting: report suspected and prior abuse/neglect to Texas.
  • Department of Family and Protective Services when appropriate.
  • You will advocate at HAWC and other agencies on behalf of clients.
  • You will communicate concerns about clients to the supervisor.
  • You will maintain accurate records and appropriate documentation of services.
  • Implement all program evaluations to ensure effective programming.
  • You will help break down barriers, Mobile Advocacy is required, this includes meeting the client in the community, work, or other safe places, etc., and accompanying clients to appointments as needed.
