Landhawk Consulting LLC is looking for a motivated archaeologist to lead projects along the Texas/Mexico border and the desert Southwest. Landhawk, an environmental consulting firm, was founded in 2012 and is located in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as field archaeologist
• Ability to work in a team setting with cultural resources staff both during field and office work.
• Technical report writing, including archeological survey reports and background studies
Minimum qualifications and experience include:
- Bachelor’s degree in archeology, anthropology, or related field preferred
- Must meet the Secretary of Interior and TX SHPO professional qualification standards in archeology or within one year of employment
- Experience: At least three years of field experience in CRM
- Effective leadership skills and ability to collaborate on projects.
- Ability and willingness to travel, especially in and around south Texas and southern New Mexico.
- Knowledge of state and federal antiquities laws and regulations
- Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects, short deadlines, and conflicting priorities
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Experience in utilizing GPS and the ability to interpret GIS data
- Ability to work in various terrains and weather conditions, including high temperatures and very high humidity.
Certification: Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) would be preferable or ability to obtain within a year
Compensation:
• Starting salary range (based on qualifications):
• Archaeologist: $55,000-$70,000/year
