Lifecore has a newly created Vice President of Accounting role which will be responsible for the supervision and performance of the accounting team within Lifecore across a wide variety of diversified key accounting, tax and information technology assignments. In addition, the chosen candidate will guide less experienced team members, ensuring high standards of work through review and direction.

In this critical leadership role, you will directly oversee the Assistant Controller, Sr. Financial Reporting Manager, and have the opportunity to:

  • Review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports for officers of company
  • Recommend major accounting objectives and policies
  • Construct and monitor reliable control systems
  • Oversee all accounting operations to ensure compliance and efficiency
  • Participates in formulation of company policies, development of long-range goals and objectives, and supporting tactical initiatives
  • Review and approve SEC filings (Form S-1, S-8, DEF 14A, 8-K, 10-K, and 10-Q filings) with the Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Prepare and present financial data to shareholders and/or potential investors.
  • Present financial reports and data to Board of Directors
  • Support and verify proper execution of: insurance, treasury, tax related structures, goods flow, balance sheet management and large Capex projects.
  • Review the work of external tax consultants and ensures proper accounting on general ledger
  • Oversight of annual audit and quarterly reviews
  • Timely monitoring of commitments and contingencies
  • Review and approve disbursements
  • Assist in preparation & review of strategic plan and financial business models
  • Perform strategic business and ad-hoc accounting projects as they arise

This position could be a great fit for you if you have the following experience.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or related area.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).

Experience:

  • A Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience.
  • At least 10 years in the Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences industry, with experience in the contract development, manufacturing and commercialization environment.
  • A minimum 10 years of public company, SEC reporting and technical accounting experience
  • A Minimum of 5 years’ experience at a nationally recognized public accounting firm
  • A Minimum of 5 years leading teams through strategic finance deals, finance department transformation and turbulent environments
  • Significant experience interviewing and identifying quality finance candidates and improving internal team performance
  • Significant experience in design and implementing ERP and other major finance, accounting and control systems
  • Proven success in transitioning major finance workstreams to lower-cost personnel
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP and industry regulations.
  • Broad forecasting and budgeting experience

  • Proficient in computer applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and present in a structured manner to members of senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Ability to work independently under the general direction of the CFO.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and manage several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting, budgeting and forecasting systems.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with internal staff at various management levels.
