Senior Scientist – Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics (DM/PK)
Overview:
TalentCraft is currently assisting a small-stage biotechnology company based in the Chicago, IL area who are actively looking for an experienced Senior Scientist specializing in Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DM/PK) to join their rapidly growing team. This position plays a key role in evaluating the pharmacokinetics, metabolism, and bioavailability of new therapeutic candidates, focusing on in vivo studies using animal models. The successful candidate will have hands-on expertise in the lab, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and shape strategic decisions to advance the drug discovery pipeline.
Key Responsibilities:
-Design and execute in vivo studies to evaluate the pharmacokinetics, metabolism, and bioavailability of drug candidates, with a primary focus on cancer therapeutics using mouse models.
-Develop detailed experimental protocols and oversee the IACUC review and approval process.
-Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., medicinal chemists, biologists) to integrate DM/PK insights into drug discovery and development strategies.
-Mentor and supervise laboratory staff , ensuring proper experimental techniques and lab operations.
-Analyze and interpret data from studies, contributing to decision-making across the development pipeline.
Qualifications:
-Education:
- Ph.D. in Pharmacokinetics, Drug Metabolism, Pharmacology, or a related field with 5+ years of industry experience, OR
- M.S. in the same fields with 10+ years of relevant postdoctoral experience.
-Technical Expertise:
- Strong background in in vivo pharmacokinetic studies , including experiment design, execution, and data analysis.
- Expertise in animal handling procedures, such as injecting test molecules, euthanizing animals, organ collection, and histology (e.g., H&E staining).
- Proficiency with PK/PD modeling tools (e.g., WinNonlin, Phoenix ) for data analysis.
-Additional Skills:
- Proven record of scientific contributions , including publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to present complex scientific data clearly.
