We are looking to add a Sr. Financial Analyst to join our Innovative Captive Strategies team in Waukee, IA . Candidates thrive in our environment when they harness their collaborative mindset, strong interpersonal communication skills, and a love of learning.
Responsibilities:

  • Compile, review, benchmark, and assemble fiscal year-end and interim financial information and reports.
  • Present financial information and facilitate discussions to Committees and Boards.
  • Liaison and foster relationships with hundreds of clients and professional partners.
  • Prepare/review monthly/quarterly/semi-annual financial reports.
  • Monitor and evaluate cash and investment balances.
  • Prepare financial statements including the preparation of journal entries and monitoring of investments.
  • Coordinate completion of actuarial reviews, tax returns, and financial statement audits.
  • Monitor and review compliance of bank covenants and insurance carrier collateral requirements.
  • Prepare budgets, distribution recommendations, and other financial projections.
  • Track, notify, and implement new accounting, tax, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Perform special projects as identified by the Assistant Vice President of Finance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work with detail, follow directions and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to learn and utilize advance technology associated with job functions.
  • Capable of exercising discretion in confidential matters and use independent judgment.
  • Ability to type and use a personal computer utilizing various software packages including, but not limited to, EXCEL, WORD, and other Accounting Systems.
  • Ability to communicate well with persons at all levels of authority both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform multiple duties simultaneously during peak periods.
  • Ability to perform detailed analysis of financial documents, plan and implement financial/accounting procedures, and communicate procedures in a clear accurate manner.
  • Ability to be available for work on a daily basis for a minimum of 8.5 hours per day and for overtime as necessary to perform duties.
  • Ability to utilize standard accounting principles.
  • Ability to utilize calculator to perform various mathematical functions.
  • Must be knowledgeable of and comply with HMA's Client Privacy Policy, HIPAA regulations and E&O procedures and policies.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Accounting degree and CPA or CFA designation preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum two years accounting experience, preferably in the insurance industry. Offshore banking experience a plus. Exposure to investment.
