The Chicago Marriott Suites Deerfield is seeking an experienced and energetic individual to fill the position of Director of Sales to lead a very high performing team which dominates all segments and markets. The ideal candidate will develop, implement, and monitor the hotel's communication objectives, advertising, and public relations.

What will you be doing?

The Director of Sales & Marketing will develop, implement, and maximize the business plan with effective strategies through direct sales, digital marketing, and revenue management. This person will ensure effective internal and external communications with clients, potential customers, associates, and ownership.

The DOSM will direct the solicitation efforts of the sales and catering team while overseeing rate, date, and space commitments for group, banquet, and catering customers. The DOSM is also responsible for maximizing total and ancillary revenue.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Interviewing, hiring, training, and conducting performance evaluations.
  2. Ensuring training programs are conducted regularly, and Crescent standards of performance are met.
  3. Compiling and directing the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the hotel.
  4. Coordinating ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends.
  5. Developing and conducting persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
  6. Prospecting, entertaining, and meeting with customers and clients, some of which will require travel.
  7. Communicating both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to the staff.
  8. Initiating preparation of computerized annual budget and business plan.
  9. Organizing and/or attending scheduled sales department and related executive team meetings.
  10. Performing any other job-related duties as assigned.

What is required:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Director of Sales in a hotel.
  • Marriott Brand Experience and local market experience are a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, sales, and closing skills.
