Amazon's Pack Innovation team is looking for an experienced, driven, and analytical Sr. Product Manager -Technical with outstanding leadership skills to lead a critical component of Amazon's Climate Pledge. Mechatronic and Sustainable Packaging (MSP) sets the global, multi-year strategic packaging vision to drive waste and cost reduction and contribute directly to Amazon’s Climate Pledge goals. Our products are public facing and provide a unique opportunity to improve customer experience with every order.

In this role you will both think big and execute, developing and executing processes and mechanisms to expand Amazon’s Frustration Free Packaging and Fulfillment Optimization programs among Amazon Selling Partners, advancing ready-to-ship and recyclable solutions to delight customers and improve operational efficiency. You will work across Software, Automation, Finance, Data Science, Operations, and Selling Partners organizations.

You will be successful in this role if you (1) are passionate about driving out waste in operational processes and supply chains, (2) can develop data-based insights and turn them into actionable workplans, and (3) collaborate across multi-functional teams to execute with excellence. A successful candidate excels in both strategic thinking and tactical execution, is comfortable with ambiguity and thrives in driving large-scale changes. You will own and define the product roadmap, deliver technical requirements, interface software development and business team, build strong relationships with stakeholder teams and stay customer obsessed. You will own life-cycle of the product, drive the day-to-day product development schedule from design to release and define and monitor metrics that measure the success. You are detail-oriented, agile, with strong time management, communication, and project management skills, and have experience working across Amazon’s Supply Chain. You will balance end customer preferences, Selling Partner experience and profitability, operational efficiency, and sustainability outcomes, and identify where programmatic or technical or trade-offs should be made to realize net benefit for Amazon’s customers. Your work will directly impact the shopping and delivery experience of millions of customers globally by improving the selection of lower waste products for our customers.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Lead high-visibility, cross-team initiatives including scoping, requirement gathering, technical design, implementation, and launch phases.
  2. Define and document priorities during operational planning (OP) cycles and reporting progress through Monthly and Quarterly Business reviews.
  3. Identify entitlement, technical and resource investments, and tradeoffs to inform roadmap and development prioritization across technical, business, and program teams.
  4. Work closely with technical leaders and product managers to compose and influence product vision, roadmap and execution.
  5. Align senior leaders toward product vision, roadmap and execution.
  6. Identify, develop, and scale software, science, and analytics tools that motivate a majority of Selling Partners to adopt ecommerce packaging.
  7. Reduce cross-organizational exposure to failure modes.

A day in the life
Location: This is a Bellevue, office-based role complying with Amazon's 3-day RTO policy. Details can be discussed with the Hiring Manager.

The Packaging Innovation team works across the Consumer organization to eliminate waste, reduce damages, and drive significant savings for Amazon, our Selling Partners, and our customers. Since 2015, Sustainable Packaging has reduced the weight of Amazon outbound packaging by more than 38%, eliminating over 1.5 million tons of packaging material.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. 4+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience.
  3. Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition.
  4. Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning.
  5. Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product.
  6. Experience managing technical products or online services.
  7. Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product.
  8. Track record of superb cross-functional stakeholder engagement, including gathering and prioritizing requirements, communicating product roadmaps and strategy, and aligning multi-team roadmaps and goals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. MBA.
  2. 6+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience.
  3. Experience in building and driving adoption of new tools.
  4. Superior analytical and quantitative skills; experience using data and metrics to test theories, confirm assumptions, and measure success.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
