I. JOB OVERVIEW
The School of Media and Public Affairs (SMPA) is a leader in media, journalism, and political communication instruction and research. As part of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences (CCAS), we have built our international reputation on the strength of a liberal arts education. We bring Washington into the classroom with a focus on how the media inform and influence policy and politics in a democracy.
Planet Forward, a project of SMPA, teaches, celebrates, and rewards environmental storytelling by college students. Engaging a diverse audience from across the country, the project uses storytelling, media, and educational events to tell the stories of invention and innovation that can move the planet forward.
Planet Forward is seeking a Program Assistant to help assist with organizing its Iliiaitchik: Indigenous Correspondents Program (ICP). This position provides critical administrative support to this program and events and will serve as a core member of the ICP team.

- Serves as a liaison between the ICP, Planet Forward, and the University of Arizona, as well as program participants, past and present.
- Coordinates and schedules monthly social and skill-building events/workshops for correspondents.
- Works with partners to help identify participant and program-related needs and assist with implementation.
- Provides relevant advice and guidance in coordinating events hosted by the ICP, with an eye to Indigenous cultural sensitivities and concerns.
- Creates annual surveys and collects feedback from participants and gathers other forms of data as deemed appropriate to ensure workshops are meeting both the ICP's objectives and student expectations.
- Creates and updates marketing materials, including content for ICP, Planet Forward and relevant University of Arizona social media channels to promote student stories, ICP events, and recruit annual cohort of correspondents.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
