Position Summary
During the course of the Program, successful candidates will gain exposure to all aspects of the real estate private equity business and will work closely with the most senior leaders of the firm. Upon the conclusion of the Program, qualified candidates may be eligible for promotion to an Associate role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate and execute debt needs of the Company, its sponsored funds and/or ventures, with ongoing responsibilities for monitoring key terms, covenants and performance requirements to include, but not be limited to:
- Establish relationships with relevant lenders across the spectrum of the Company’s needs (subscription lines, secured and unsecured lines, single asset financings, securitized lending, tax exempt and non-tax exempt bond financings, etc.) to effectively match lender strengths and offerings with its forecast borrowing needs
- Develop relationships with debt brokers and manage brokerage engagements from deal underwriting through loan execution
- Assess the cost (both direct and indirect) of proposed debt financings pursuant to stated goals of the Company, its sponsored funds or ventures
- Make recommendations where banking services can or should be combined to leverage and build lender relationships
- Coordinate and transition debt executions to the Treasury and/or Accounting team for seamless maintenance and monitoring
- Develop and implement electronic solutions to efficiently summarize key debt terms and related trip-wires, to simplify and automate compliance monitoring and reporting
- Serve as subject matter expert for debt terms and relevant options as the Company’s business needs develop and evolve
- Work with Fund Managers and/or the Managing Director of Finance to develop and implement effective debt capital strategies broadly
- Create and maintain complex financial models (i.e. , Argus and Excel)
- Support the sourcing, underwriting, and execution of investment opportunities

Qualifications, Education and Experience
- Recent graduate with 1-3 years of relevant industry experience
- BA/BS Degree, majors in Math, Accounting, Economics, Finance or Real Estate preferred
- Positive attitude and a very strong work ethic
- Attention to detail, highly organized and proactive
- Ability to learn quickly, a high degree of intellectual curiosity, and a passion for real estate and investing
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills including an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. , PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts concisely
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment
The position will work in a general office setting and may require travel, up to 20% of time annually, to remote office locations based on organizational/business needs.
Physical Demands
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the workday, sitting at a desk, consistently operating a computer. The person in this position must be able to access file cabinets and office machinery (to include a computer, copier, and fax machine). On occasion, may need to lift boxes of up to 10 lbs. Must be able to travel by commercial air flights, including cross-country and overnight trips.
