RWJBH is seeking an Assistant Clinical Director for Children’s Same Day Suite at the New Brunswick campus. This is a Full-Time position, Day Shift 8 AM - 5 PM.
Departments Serviced: Pediatric Perioperative Services, PreOp, PACU and Medical Infusions.
Manager Job Description - Summary of Job Function
The Head Nurse is a registered professional nurse who, under the direction of the Nursing Director, coordinates available resources to efficiently and effectively provide professional nursing care of a quality consistent with the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Standards of Care to the patients assigned to his/her unit.
The Head Nurse demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to make decisions regarding the provision of age-appropriate care for the unit's patient population, ensuring that the unit is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
Job Qualifications/Education/Training/Certification/Licensure
Education:
- Licensed to practice Professional Nursing in New Jersey.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
- Pediatric National certification in a clinical area required - CPAN.
- APHON Certification within 2 years of acceptance of the position.
Experience:
- 3-5 years relative clinical practice.
Job Functions
- Development/Management of Personnel
- Facilitates the safe and effective functioning of the unit as demonstrated by:
- Interviewing and hiring licensed and unlicensed personnel in collaboration with the Nursing Director.
- Contributes to the professional growth and development of staff by:
- Continuously assessing patient care to evaluate staff knowledge and patterns of performance.
- Counseling staff on identified areas for improvement.
- Evaluating the staff performance as demonstrated by the completion of the performance evaluation in a timely manner.
- Counseling and implementing appropriate disciplinary action.
- Planning/coordinating unit-based education programs as identified by unit needs.
- Considers staff participation in safety/quality initiatives when completing employee performance appraisals.
- Fostering Interdisciplinary Collaborative Relationships
- Support and maintain collaborative relationships with all disciplines that impact patient care on the unit.
- Foster an atmosphere of positive communication on the unit.
- Act as a role model in customer relations.
- Participates in service and hospital-wide committees as assigned.
Management of Patient Care Delivery
Maintains clinical expertise as demonstrated by:
- Providing care that is safe, effective, and consistent with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Standards of Patient Care.
- Applying knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to the age, growth, and development over the life span (i.e., infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult).
- Incorporating current research findings into clinical practice.
- Providing leadership in the delivery of patient care for the unit as demonstrated by:
- Making assignments which consider patient needs and staff competencies.
- Assisting staff in establishing priorities for patient care needs.
- Serving as a resource for interpretation of regulatory requirements.
- Implementation of policies and procedures of the nursing department.
- Promoting effective resource utilization related to clinical practice.
- Using effective communication strategies.
- Participates in the development of performance improvement projects including design, performance measurement analysis, and improvement.
Unit Management
- Plans staffing in accordance with established standards as demonstrated by:
- Completing and posting schedules according to policy and procedure.
- Ensuring safe staffing patterns and monitoring and evaluating the standards of care for the unit.
- Ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks.
