CBM - Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell P.C. currently seeks candidates for accounting internships (Full-time or Part-time). Ambitious candidates pursuing a career in the accounting field should consider this opportunity. A number of current employees started their CBM careers as interns.

Remote work is available.

Requirements

The individual filling this position will be a senior-level student studying Accounting, or a recent graduate, and should be able to meet the responsibilities associated with this position. Intern candidates should be dedicated to a career in accounting, have at least 120 credit hours with a plan to earn 150 hours within the next year, and have a goal of pursuing CPA designation. Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel. Attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and excellent communication skills are all essential to this position. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to high-quality work, learning, and personalized service, and demonstrate an ability to work independently and with a team.

Responsibilities

CBM's goal is to provide interns with a broad experience within a public accounting firm environment and provide a chance to collaborate with clients and CBM stakeholders from the tax, audit and accounting departments and with operations professionals. CBM interns can be expected to assist with some or all of the following responsibilities.

  • Assist with month-end financial reports
  • Post journal entries
  • Help with accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Assist with bank statement reconciliation
  • Assist with audits
  • Balance sheet reconciliation
  • Collaborate on yearly forecasting efforts
  • Manage the monthly tracking of physical inventory
  • Tax form preparation
  • Support the payment processing team
  • Assist with the preparation of ad hoc and other internal reports
  • Data entry
  • Credit checks
  • Ensure the completion of assigned tasks in line with established deadline
  • Work under supervision of other accountants
  • Study and understand the accounting policies and processes of CBM
