At Mahaska Health the primary responsibility of the Hospitality Service Specialist is to provide a clean, sterile environment in all areas of the hospital and clinics.
Hours: Full-time - Afternoons and Evenings
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs cleaning duties such as disinfecting patient areas, climbing a ladder, washing windows, scrubbing floors, moving furniture, changing mattresses, lifting filled buckets, and putting out supplies.
  • All areas in hospitals and clinics must be cleaned according to cleaning procedures; daily, weekly, monthly, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining hospital floors to include carpet, entryways, etc.
  • Responsible for proper operation and maintenance of floor cleaning including vacuum, floor, and carpet cleaning equipment.
  • Empty and clean all cleaning equipment used at the end of each working shift.
  • Wear proper PPE (personal protective equipment) when performing job duties.
  • Ability to read and understand SDS sheets.
  • Ability to handle hazardous material.
  • Demonstrates proper precautions and procedures for infections, electrical, steam, and chemical hazards, heavy dust, and environmental and disinfectant solutions.
  • Must have the ability to accurately communicate orders by phone, in person, and written.
  • Report any violation of OSHA Regulations to the supervisor.
  • Notify the supervisor when supplies need to be reordered.
  • Accuracy, neatness, and timeliness in performance of work required.
  • Conduct self in accordance with Mahaska Health Partnership's confidentiality policy; ensuring to follow all MHP training guidelines in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.
  • Ability to deal with confidential information.
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Attend meetings, as requested.
  • All other duties as assigned or requested.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow directions and understand the importance of cleanliness and sanitation of institutional and environmental cleaning/laundry.
  • Ability to operate heavy floor maintenance equipment.
  • Will be required to show proof of having completed Mandatory Reporter course at the time of hire or attend within 6 months of the start date.
  • Must adhere to all training requirements as mandated by Federal, State, and Professional licensure and regulatory standards.
  • Understand and comply with the requirements of MHP's Compliance Program, including, but not limited to the Code of Conduct, the Compliance Policy, all supporting policies for compliance, and compliance plans affecting specific duties and responsibilities.
  • Participate in all education and training programs regarding compliance as required by Practice policy and as requested by the supervisor.
  • Consistently support the Compliance Program through personal example; the provision of day-to-day instruction and correction to employees regarding compliance-related issues; application of appropriate discipline as required for compliance violations; and ongoing monitoring of activities and work product in areas of responsibility with respect to compliance-related issues.
