We are seeking an Executive Director for our 501(c)(3) maritime historic preservation and educational organization located in Gloucester, MA.

Job Description

Responsible for overall management of the Schooner Adventure /The Gloucester Adventure, Inc.; working together with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director’s role is to further the preservation and operation of the vessel while positioning Adventure as a focal point for maritime education. That focal point includes the themes of fisheries, maritime history and the ocean environment.

Qualifications

Must have experience overseeing, creating and/or executing high-quality programs. Experience with fundraising and communicating with donors; working with a Board of community volunteers. Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including public speaking. Demonstrated skills in planning, delegating and program development. Able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and occasional weekends as needed for events/programs. IT/Computer proficiency. Strong leadership skills. A collaborative, high integrity, transparent, accessible leadership style is desired.

Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s is a plus. A minimum of 5-7 years of nonprofit experience (this may be professional work experience or involvement with a nonprofit board or volunteer roles). Minimum of 5-7 years successfully managing a professional staff and volunteers.
