How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Procurement Manager manages the team of buyers and handles all activities of the procurement process during the proposal phase, project execution and until the fulfillment of the obligations of the contract.
The Procurement Manager is to plan and coordinate all procurement activities within proposals and projects, sourcing all parts related to the manufacturing and assembly of rotating equipment for multiple orders ranging from $200k up to $3MM, ensuring that the necessary data and instructions are properly distributed and that work is carried out according to the strategies and policies defined.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Determine material requirements from sales forecast, customer sales orders, production schedules and bills of material. Maintain a material plan based on daily MRP (Material Requirements Planning) issued by SAP, backlog, new customer sales orders, inventory levels, minimum order quantities, and lead times.
  2. Procure materials at the highest quality, lowest possible cost matching the market material trends, with consistent on-time delivery to meet schedules.
  3. Manage a team of buyers to send requests for quotations, analyze quotations; negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery times in order to meet the project requirements.
  4. Identify new suppliers, negotiate long term supply agreements, potential supply forms (kanban, consignment or vendor managed inventory), manage and improve existing suppliers.
  5. Maintain vendor list and qualifications.
  6. Actively works with production control and assist in the resolution of production, design, quality and to expedite critical deliveries.
  7. Discusses defective goods or services, encompassing critical, high tolerance machined parts for rotating equipment and subcontracted services (skidding, assembly and testing of components), with users and vendors to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
  8. Works creatively with vendors, engineering and production to improve the supply chain or product cost structures.
  9. Assist with the development of procedures and tools for product cost tracking and reporting.

AREAS OF SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Procurement/Purchasing

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (Supply Chain Management or Engineering preferred).

5 years of relevant experience in supply chain management, with managerial responsibility, preferably in the rotating equipment or industrial gasses sphere.

Experience in qualifying and direct sourcing from low cost countries (i.e. India, China, Vietnam etc.).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Proficient with Google and Microsoft Suites (Sheets/Excel, Gmail/Outlook, Slides/Powerpoint etc.)

Ability to extract and present critical business information from ERP’s (Enterprise Resource Planning), preferably SAP, and manipulate large volumes of historical procurement data as it pertains to Cost, Quality and On-time Delivery. Knowledge of SAP’s Production Module is a plus.

Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.

Skilled negotiator, comfortable with various forms of contract and terms and conditions thereof.

The annual base salary range for this position in California is $108,000 - $130,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Air Liquide considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
