Growth Analytics & AI within Humana is dedicated to transforming members' journeys and Humana's services using technology and analytics. We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist who will utilize cutting-edge AI, NLP, GenAI techniques, build predictive modeling, test rigorous hypotheses, design studies, and turn data into actionable insights. The Senior Data Scientist will work cross-functionally and collaboratively with teams across the enterprise through innovative AI, machine learning, and R&D platforms. The scope of our work includes forecasting, predictive modeling, designing business experiments, and ROI studies. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with healthcare data and demonstrated innovative methods for overcoming testing constraints.

The Senior Data Scientist creates reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business strategy and tactics. This role influences department's strategy, contributes to decision making on complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and works on model building use cases with minimal supervision. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will:

  1. Develop and validate machine learning and statistical models, predictions, reports, and presentations to support business strategy and tactics
  2. Develop, maintain, and collect structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting
  3. Research and evaluate innovative analytical methodologies, approaches, and solutions
  4. Collaborate with analytics and data teams to set objectives, approaches, and work plans
  5. Interpret and communicate analytic results to analytical and non-analytical business partners
  6. Understand department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives
  7. Compile and present regular and ad-hoc project status reports

Required Qualifications

  1. Master's Degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative field
  2. 3+ years of experience in advanced data analytics
  3. Demonstrated experience in working with assignments that involve moderately complex to complex issues with Python, R, SAS, SQL, DataRobot or similar statistical and scripting tools
  4. Experience developing and validating machine learning and statistical forecasting models or predictive models
  5. Experience in developing, maintaining, and collecting structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting
  6. Experience interpreting and communicating analytic results to analytical and non-analytical business partners
  7. Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making on moderately complex to complex issues
  8. Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
  9. Strong interpersonal and consulting skills

Preferred Qualifications

  1. PhD in a quantitative discipline, such as Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or Statistics
  2. Healthcare or managed care experience
  3. Experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  4. Experience in health economics, test & learn, and/or experiment design
  5. Experience building large-scale predictive models
  6. Experience building visualization and reports using Tableau or Power BI
  7. Experience in cloud computing, Azure or AWS

Work-At-Home Requirements

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service must meet the following criteria:

  1. At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended
  2. Employees who live and work from Home in specific states will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

Pay Range

$104,800 - $144,300 per year. This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
